RIP Tom Stoppard. Very early in my career, I covered the West End revival of his play Travesties for the Evening Standard diary. Star struck to see him in the bar pre-show, I said the first stupid thing that came to mind: 'was it about Brexit?' No, he replied with a grin, he wrote it in 1974.
