October 10th. #albumaday2026. Carly Rae Jepsen - Day and Night // While there's a solid amount of synthy dance-pop tunes on this double album, it definitely runs a bit too long, and someone involved in the production shoulda raised their voice about trimming down the tracklist.

October 9th. #albumaday2026. Greta Van Fleet - Palace For The People // I cannot stress enough just how little respect I have for this band after so many years of reheating the leftovers of the '70s rock scene.

October 8th. #albumaday2026. The Ocean - Solaris // Despite some of the most significant lineup shifts between albums yet, The Ocean delivers a pretty solid cinematic post-metal journey (fitting as this is based off a Tarkovsky film), with Lane Shi being a welcome new vocal presence.

October 7th. #albumaday2026. Anthrax - Cursum Perficio // Liked this one a bit better than For All Kings with its solid sense of grooves, although sometimes the guitar riffs have some weird syncopation rhythms, like putting the emPHASis on the wrong sylLABLes.

113. Silent Hill: Townfall - feels good to live in a timeline where the 2020s gave us three pretty damn good SH titles in close proximity. Also nice to finally get a more robust first-person offering in the franchise following PT and The Short Message, there's a lot of interesting game design here.

October 6th. #albumaday2026. Cyst (Iglooghost, Daisy*) - ᲘᲘ // Interesting to hear Iglooghost take a team-up idea from his last album and expand it into a proper album, bringing some cool experimental rap to the table.

October 4th-5th. #albumaday2026. Racetraitor - Creation and the Timeless Order of Things / Nobody Son of Nobody -- Didn't know this band was still going. Good to know they still got some decent blistering metalcore chops under their belt.

October 3rd. #albumaday2026. Emma Ruth Rundle - These Killing Times // Emma delivers a pretty cathartic record about trying to survive the abusive horrors of modern reality, paired with songwriting that can go from quiet singer-songwriter passages to loud droning gothic doom.

112. AI: The Somnium Files - definitely is a bit streamlined compared to the intricate plotting of Zero Escape or Last Defense Academy, but this was still an incredibly compelling visual novel effort. Loved the dream exploration sections, the ranting about parallel worlds and memory/cognition...

111. Resident Evil (2026) - I really think we need to stand in awe of just how much this fuckin' ruled. Simultaneously a tense horror thrill-ride, a perfect embodiment its director's creative sensibilities, and an adaptation that captures the spirit of RE better than all prior movies.

October 2nd. #albumaday2026. Godflesh - Decay // A companion project to Purge that has a similarly classic industrial feel, though this one is mainly instrumental given Justin K. Broadrick's current health issues. Makes me wonder what that final Godflesh album will sound like.

October 1st. #albumaday2026. Holding Absence - Modern Life is Lonely // Post-hardcore that leans quite a bit into synthetic melodious textures, but unlike a band like President, they actually do it in a tasteful well-written way. Also there isn't assloads of autotune.

110. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City - not quite a must watch, but I found myself enjoying this way more than Paul Anderson's run of movies, and trying to articulate why is interesting imo. The aspects that make it work better as a film is, funnily enough, the ways it tries to...

109. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter - holy shit they really got 6 films out of this one continuity. I'd almost be impressed, if this wasn't a fart of an ending to a subpar action film series, this one plagued with terrible overactive editing and some extremely nonsensical plot turns.

108. Resident Evil: Retribution - aka "hey guys, remember RE4?" I'm struggling to think of anything to say, good or bad, that isn't just retreading stuff from the other movies 'cause they're all kinda bleeding together in terms of action setpieces and nonsensical plotting.

September 30th. #albumaday2026. Earth Wind & Fire - Millennium // Kind of a mix of the soft easy listening material and aspects of the Minneapolis sound (not surprising since Prince did do some work on this record).

September 29th. #albumaday2026. Earth Wind & Fire - Heritage // This album features two MC Hammer appearances as well as a song with vocals from an adolescent-aged new jack swing group (not ABC, there was another one apparently). Can ya tell this album was made in 1990?

107. Resident Evil: Afterlife - this is definitely the worst-looking of Anderson's RE films, due to being the first to come out in the post-Avatar 3D years, meaning incredibly shoddy effects work and dated "stuff flying at the screen" shots. Doesn't help that this is heavily adapting stuff from RE5.

106. President Curtis (season 1) - not sure of the temperature of take here, but I wound up enjoying this a lot more than the last few Rick & Morty seasons. It's an entire season of Keith David doing cartoon X-Files stuff, what's not to like?

September 28th. #albumaday2026. Mastodon - Marrow Deep // A month late on this, but to be fair for me this was gonna be a tough listen given my attachment to their music and everything surrounding Brent Hinds' death/split with the group.

105. Scavengers Reign - finally caught the Adult Swim run of this after the HBO Max/Netflix releases... I hate myself for missing it the first time 'cause this is some of the most incredible animation (and just television in general) I've seen this decade.

104. Resident Evil: Extinction - there's two scenes in this movie that I thought were cool -the crow ambush when they all get set ablaze and the whole sky is on fire (unironically cool imagery) -Alice getting psychic powers for a tyrant fight that's stupidly funny in a video-game sorta way

September 27th. #albumaday2026. Wendy's - Songs to Listen to In A Wendy's Parking Lot // It's a corporate release cashing in on millennial nostalgia, so unsurprisingly it sounds like a bad Jarrod Alonge-style EP without the presence of any real punchlines.

Had to do a permanent mute of the current subject of music discourse but seeing people that I thought would be smart enough to know better tie themselves in conspiracy pretzels over their dislike/non-awareness of "Choosin Texas" reminds me of this:

September 24th-26th. #albumaday2026. Earth Wind and Fire - Powerlight / Electric Universe / Touch the World -- Diving further into the '80s, you can absolutely hear the band's sound becoming more '80s as synths+electronics become more prominent. Doesn't become much of a problem until Touch The...

103. Resident Evil: Apocalypse - It's... a little bit better than the first? The action is a bit better (church scene is the highlight imo), pacing is a bit better. It's still weird how it goes about piecing together random ideas from the games together in a sorta sloppy way.

September 23rd. #albumaday2026. Earth Wind and Fire - Raise! // The most surprising thing about this discography binge so far is learning that "Let's Groove" was a song from 1981. Scoring a major hit like that with a banger-ass song like that shortly after the disco backlash is wild to me.

Much as I hate to hit you all with the burden of this knowledge before you all go to bed, Wendy's released an EP of emo songs that may possibly be ai slop despite the presence of actual emo vocalists on it.

102. Drawn to the Fire - another one for the Shonen Jump graveyard; just kind of a stock sports title with not much of a spark to it (pun intended). Still weird that 6 years after Haikyuu's conclusion, this magazine hasn't had a breakout sports hit again.

101. Resident Evil (2002 movie) - y'know I never actually watched the live-action RE movies? Figured I might as well to say I did, but this first one is... one of the movies of all time. Nicest thing I can say is that I liked the production design well enough. Might be kinda generic labaratories...

100. Barbarian - Cregger's debut movie was also a solid horror experience; while the antagonist conceptually is a more standard monster, the revelations about their existence are genuinely chilling and disturbing, a rare accomplishment when it comes to explaining horror entities imo.

99. Weapons - Probably odd to start a director's work with their second film rather than their first, but either way this movie's pretty damn good! Has a great eye for pacing out scares and tension through its shot setup and editing, and I really liked the character vignette/chapter structure...

98. Pikmin 2 (Switch Port) - Weirdly wound up as a case of "sophomore slump" for me. I was enjoying myself at first with the dungeon exploration structure and new Pikmin types, but the post-game stuff after clearing the 10k goal got really tedious, especially the saturation/placement of enemies.

September 11th. #albumaday2026. Showing Teeth - A Fate Worse Than Loneliness // the debut EP from this artist (singer who got popular online for various metalcore vocal covers); solid potential here mixing metalcore with deathcore and a bit of prog, and some really good vocals for the genre.

September 10th. #albumaday2026. Sleep - Hempispheres // A major lineup change on this record with Al Cisneros as the only founding member left... and unfortunately this is their least interesting record so far. Super flat/thin-sounding production combined with overly monotonous songwriting.

September 8th. #albumaday2026. Rebecca Black - Age of the Exhibitionist // wasn't quite as into this one compared to "Salvation." The blunt sexuality of the lyrics is pretty on point, but the beats here feel a bit... late 2000s/early 2010s in a not-great sorta way.

September 6th. #albumaday2026. SiM - HOOMAN AFTER ALL // I probably shouldn't have let Attack on Titan, Final Season Pt. 2 convince me this band was good. So much cringey pop-punk/metalcore/ska on this thing. Just listen to "Black Submarine" alone and you'll get the gist.

September 5th. #albumaday2026. President - Blood of Your Empire // Once again, I implore everyone with a sadistic grudge against Sleep Token to focus their ire on the real enemy, because surprise: this band's full length debut fucking reeks of insincere trend-chasing bullshit.

September 4th. #albumaday2026. Chat Pile - Who Loves the Sun // gives a bit more of a tuneful side for their usual jagged and discomforting sound, but the band still brings some great feel-bad music on this one, with a particular focus on how technology drives our current hellscape.

97. Robot Chicken [adult swim] special - works out pretty admirably in how it unites many characters from varied shows with distinct comedic styles into this one shared plot about a cruise gone horribly wrong. Manages to let the characters' personalities bounce off each other pretty humorously...

96. Finding Dory - didn't catch this upon release since it didn't look like essential viewing. Seeing it now: it's one of the sequels of all time. Decent visuals and some fun setpieces, but god it really lays the sentimentality of Dory's backstory on as thick as it can.
