Second cold on this long trip, and this ain’t the ticket I tell you. Just got over one about 5-7 days ago, and now this one feels like bronchitis. We’re flying tomorrow and I’m begging the universe not to allow it to fuck with my sinus/ears. I get massive earaches when flying with a cold sometimes.

We also had dinner outside in Paola. I tried one of Malta’s specialty dishes, Stoffat Tal Fenek (rabbit stew), and witness some of the townsfolk playing bingo, it was kind of a magical evening.

These are not pics as they confiscate cameras and cell phones, they even make you wear shoe covers. They only allow ten people in at any given time. We felt very privileged and lucky to be able to visit. I got emotional when I saw the main chamber, it’s an incredible site.

Today we toured a very unique and special place, the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum. It’s a subterranean necropolis that is more than 6,000 years old. Its oldest remains are dated around 4,000 BC. This place is from the Neolithic era, and older than the Egypt pyramids and Stonehenge! Felt privileged visiting

We also took a midday Harbour cruise around the three cities, visited Fort St. Elmo, the city gate, the location where they filmed some GoT, Gladiator, plus some other sights.

St. John’s co-cathedral was great, but it was sometimes overwhelming because it’s got a lot to look at, and a lot of gold! The amazing thing was being able to look at Caravaggio’s masterpiece, The Beheading of St John the Baptist, his greatest painting & the only painting he ever signed.

Ventured out to the old part of Valletta. It’s mote of the classic, historical city I expected, but I must say that both the modern and the old are beautiful though.

Today I discovered a Malta I didn’t know existed, so modern with an electric atmosphere and very cool vibe. Some streets reminded me of pics I’ve seen of Tokyo. Incredible energy, just wow.

Today we visited the Panathenaic Stadium, host of the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympics in 1896. It was built in the the 6th century BC! It was subsequently renovated in ALL marble in the 2nd century BC, the only one in the world. It’s a magnificent piece of architecture.

Thanks! Awesome. Highly recommend to do the first tour of the acropolis in the am, to avoid the massive crowds for about 20 minutes and get some semi decent pics.
