Toured “The Red Flat”, an apartment frozen in time in the 80s, under the Bulgarian communist government. A married couple with their young son lived there. A very cool experience because we saw, and experience interactively, the way people spent their normal lives under the oppressive govt.

Arrived in Sofia, Bulgaria, yesterday and just chilled the rest of the day. Today we visited the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the St. Sophia Church, the St. Nicholas Church, the National Theater and Ballet building, the presidential palace, the royal palace and national gallery, etc.

On a more solemn note, we saw the Shoes On the Danube memorial. It honors thousands of people massacred by fascist Hungarian militia belonging to the Arrow Cross Party in Budapest during the WWII.

Today on our last day we visited the Budapest parliament building, which is also not to be missed. It’s the grandest government building I have ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot. Pics do not do it justice. It’s also a massive building.

Yesterday was a full day in Budapest as we visited the Fisherman’s Bastion, St. Mathias Church, Szilagyi Dezo Square Reformed Church, Buda Castle Palace, and did a Danube River cruise in the evening, highly recommend. This city comes alive at night as all the main attractions are wonderfully lit.

Today was a chill day. After having a leisurely breakfast in the hotel, we made our way to the B. castle, the historic St. Martin church where we tried our first (delicious) “Bratislava roll”), then just walked through the charming streets of old town & saw part of the wall that used to surround it.

A first great day in Bratislava. Visited the cute and whimsical Blue Church, or church of St Elizabeth, went by Bratislava castle, and the UFO building. Also went walking around old town and saw different giant murals, as well as old vestiges from their Stalinist era.

Leaving Vienna tomorrow but made the best of it by seeing many more wonderful sites today like the Hapsburg palace, the Sisi museum and imperial staterooms, the Austria State Hall, the magnificent Austrian National Library, the Hundertwasser house, the Mumok museum, etc.

Saw The Kiss by Gustavo Klimt. A magnificent, inspiring piece of art. It’s breathtakingly beautiful in person, pics don’t do it justice. It’s massive too, had no idea of its size. It was quite moving to see it, for I consider a love kiss the most intimate act one can experience ❤️. Also saw Judith.
