ḵaḵ'ay da yets'isk - wings for the land animals // journey to the furry con/language meet 🐅✈️ so late posting this lol i've been slammed, but this is the patreon sticker until the 30th!

a formline design of a plane creature or aeromorph, with a blunt snout and big front paws. various passengers are visible through three windows on its torso, each shown to be resting peacefully, gawking outside, and watching in a more contented way respectively. the passengers seem to have vaguely animal characteristics. surrounding the plane are billows of clouds, a stamped boarding pass with a direct flight route that reads "TSM > SYN", and a swirly red line depicting the route with map-style pins at either end.

I remember something was up with TouhouFest & seeing this, I’m glad I never went to there. There needs to changes made at Touhou Fest if they want to keep to going. The first thing they need to do (and should’ve done a long time ago if being completely honest) is get rid of people like Lucas

Okay but if you host a pride related event where you accept submissions, you MUST include queer sensitivity readers, ESPECIALLY if cishet people are allowed to participate.

ZUN have done so much for feminism when he made both villains of SHoSS achieve their respective goals, develop a weird partnership in the process, and have some the most lesbian dialogue of any Touhou games

Misogyny is as usual the root cause; all Touhou fans ever do is try to make powerful, complex female characters into non-threathening stereotypes they can laugh at and sexually objectify. Female and LGBT fans are absolutely not exempt from doing it, and it applies to how they approach shipping too.

Roaringwish @roaringwish.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Semi-related to my previous thread bc all the reasons I listed are also why okiyuuma has no chance of getting popular or even acknowledged by more than like 3 people for what it truly is, despite being one of the most canon ships in the franchise.

For anyone who doesn't already know, touhou lore is super worth learning. Go read Yuyukos backstory or Mokous part in cage in lunatic runagate. Zun puts a lot of work into touhou's lore. There is a lot of complex stuff going on with basically every important character.

I'm also thinking about how one of Land of Oracular Zeitgeist's artists was getting blasted on twitter a week or two ago because Reimu's alt palette in that game is black and the language the assholes harassing him were using was vile

Everyone is lambasting the bigots and shitheads of the Touhou fandom, eh? Excellent. Good, very good. I'll never forget getting randomly dogpiled by racists for black edits, esp since I wasn't really "in" the fandom at the time and on a side account with low visibility and followers.

I will never forget that time *those* ppl dogpiled a Brazilian artist for giving Reimu very slight melanin to which, funnily enough, wasn't really much melanin at all, it was just the colors chosen for their artstyle and they drew Reimu like that before many times.

Shit was so bad for me cuz nearly every post I made, whether it was art or pointing out the issue, I had racists, fence-sitters and weirdos congregating like flies with unasked opinions and unfunny antiblack "memes". It was like my account was cursed, they somehow kept finding me :/

not that the canon material is flawless and perfect but if you only ever interacted with the shallow and stereotype-ridden fanon material youd forget that this is the same franchise that had a book where aya gets called out by hecatia for trying to push a trump-style anti-immigration moral panic

My own thoughts about the Touhou fandom as a Black queer *Note: I will make a small(ish) mentions about other grievances from people who hate the old jokes in the fandom as well, but as for the first few things, just grievances as a Black American, as a queer, and as a disabled person

Touhou fans refusing to engage with official material and lore doesn't just begin and end at "oh but we're just playing toys", it actually feeds into and perpetuates the bigotry that this fandom was created in and it's one of the leading reasons why it's no less bigoted than it was 20 years ago.

This whole situation sums up the touhou fandom so well. Unlike OP I have a way less polite and calm essay I wrote about the fandom and since a measured tone of voice doesn't do anything to stop you from getting hate and your post deleted I'm seriously considering dropping it.

Fun fact: Ground cherry (edible) and bladder cherry (poisonous) are often mixed up bc they are similar. For the Hungarian patch I translated it as bladder cherry anyway bc we call it ördöglámpás (devil's lantern). It's more fitting for the game and it doesn't alter lore and characterization.
