I don't think we were so bad tonight. Yes, another loss but against a very good team and we matched them most of the game. An improvement from Bolton and Swansea for sure.

Lovely late run from Wright. He's ready to take Kenny's mantle at the end of this season

Great passage of play, shame the header was straight at the keeper

Decent start so far. Not sure what that free kick was for, and they'll probably score now...

I'm kinda fed up of football

Still looks good in tight spaces up top, but doesn't do enough elsewhere

Stacey has been excellent defensively, and I'm not sure I've ever said that before.

Manchester City cheated Premier League rules, the Commission found. Did it also cheat HMRC? We've examined the decision and leaked Mancini documents. We think City likely failed to pay £12m in tax. There should be a criminal investigation. Thread:

And Man City in the Champ? Even if they sell 20 players, their youth team would have a good shout for automatic promotion - but then again, some of those youth players are probably already on above-Champ average wages. Whatever happens, it's going to take years.

I have thoughts on the Man City thing. But fuck, it's complicated. 100x 6 point penalty and £35m fine? We're in crazy territory. It helps no-one if the punishment destroys the club, but also there are a lot of teams and fans who genuinely lost out.

I think rotation has been great - we've got this big squad, lets use it. People seem to think you just pick the 11 players with the highest ratings like in FIFA. Real football is more complex!

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Utter bollocks. The rotation has had negligible impact on our ability to control games. It's the gaping holes in the midfield that are the problem, and there's been no league rotation in CB/CM
Chris Sutton: time to end heavy rotation to stop City's slide

Tell you what, it's the hope that makes it hurt so much.

We have definitely got shitter since last year.

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Well, our games are certainly entertaining even if we can't defend for shit

Good. I'd rather win at Bolton. Yongwa looks great and maybe Fisher is playing back into form too

I've never heard such one-sided commentary, about how wonderful City are, etc etc

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
I don't mind losing but they're making stupid mistakes - and the attack just isn't connecting, you can tell they haven't really played together much

Only just noticed our game is on Thursday this week. Seems a bit odd - assume it's to avoid clash with Man Utd home match tomorrow night.

Yes, precisely

Incredible that he played so many games. He wasn't completely terrible but always struck me as a bit of a squad player

If asked, I would vote positive, on the basis of my MA in medieval history. But it's all vibes - even tho the Anglo Norman state led advances in government, language and culture in so many ways, who's to say a revived Anglo-Danish kingdom wouldn't have done similar?

to be quite honest, he aint that good. Championship is his level right now and he'd do well to learn his trade before getting too big for his boots.

Good win at a tough ground. Despite ripping the guts out of that team, a Chris Wilder side is always going to put up a fight.

Defo, and hopefully that composure and decision making can be coached

I think Mo Toure might just be the best instinctive, snap-shot striker I have ever seen play for Norwich... whilst being one of the worst when he actually has time to think about what he's doing 😁

Definitely - I'm not worried yet, especially seeing the topsy turvy results that others are getting.
010
Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
Definitely a weird set of results so far. Some teams looking strong and some weak, but no really obvious pattern as yet
110
Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
Found it so weird, because they were genuinely exceptional against us. They might have gone too hard, too soon, because sounds like they have injury issues building up already

Agree. Although I was impressed with Musaba at first, and now the Pink Un quote that he was like a speedboat without a pilot is starting to seem closer to the mark

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
I don't think I imagined it. I'm pretty sure one criticism of Clement at Rangers was he struggled to breakdown teams who went defensive. Hoping Maghoma and Makama help provide some solutions.

Mine was abstract, yours was insulting to one specific person.

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
No, but equally don't see why you'd turn a throwaway joke into an attack on someone who's doing a decent job at a non rival club. Just seems a bit mean-spirited

Bit harsh. Not had your morning coffee yet?

Can confirm: John Eustace had a healthy yoghurt and fruit breakfast. Also, he looks fit as fuck. Whatever happened to fat old managers in sheepskin coats, eh?

Also, given the rather bloated squad we have this year, a cup run is actually more important than usual to keep players sharp. Normally I couldn't give a toss, but this year I'm hoping we get a bit of a run in both cups. An extra 4 or 5 games could be a boon rather than a distraction.

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
Ironic, isn't it, how the best attacking headerer in our squad is the shortest of our four strikers I wonder if it's because shorter players have to work harder to get good at heading?

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 25/08/2026
Not a vintage performance, but great to see Crnac back, Stacey was excellent, and McConville remains a fucking Rolls Royce of a player Gibbs needs a season long League 1 loan where he can get 35+ games and play in his favoured CM position every week.

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
Oh and btw, probably not needed but if Fisher doesn't refind his form, let's reach out to Bournemouth because they've got a superb Championship level right back not even making match day squads 😋

Phil @roaminganglian.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
Conclusion: we still lose. Millwall were superb. If they perform like that all season, they're in the automatics. But maybe we come out with some pride intact /End

Start with Mattson & McConville. Why has he preferred Darling this season - last year McC and Cordoba partnership was superb? In game like that, Slimane needs to play deeper or even revert to 3 CMs Never start Field except for emergencies or 4-3-3 (and loan Gibbs for a full year in League 1) 2/
