Looking directly at an eclipse without the right protection can cause permanent damage to your eyesight without causing any pain, so you might not realise the damage until it's too late. So remember these tips to look after your sight and enjoy the spectacle tonight!
How to watch the eclipse safely" in bright yellow text on a black background, with an image of an eclipse on the right side. Use Certified ISO 12312-2 Glasses. These are the only safe way to look at the Sun directly. Make sure you check for scratches and pinholes, and buy them from a reputable seller." with an image of an eclipse. Don’t use ordinary sunglasses. Ordinary sunglasses are never safe for watching an eclipse. They allow too much light (thousands of times in fact) to pass through the lens and damage your eyes." with an image of an eclipse. No glasses? Use a pinhole instead. Make a pinhole in a piece of card and let the Sun shine through it onto a second card. You’ll see a perfect little crescent as the eclipse passes over. Pinhole projection is free, safe and really lovely to watch." with an image of an eclipse
