Well actually it suggests many things: mental illness is only one of them. Allegedly frequent abuse of Class A drugs can achieve similar effects. As can ingestion of large quantities of alcohol. Personally I blame society. It's easier than taking responsibility.

It's a seriously flawed proposal: without appropriate framing legilsation tenants will become eligible to buy-out those homes in a few short years. Rinse; repeat. Why is it that writers of knee-jerk petitions never take legal advice first?

I have a modest proposal, or five. 1] ban all donations to central political party funds. 2] only allow donations to local party funds if 3] you are a proven elector in the constituency where you're donating 4] have demonstrably lived - not owned a property - lived: for more than five years.

What I have issues with is that the UK birthrate is falling and has been well below replacement rate for some years now. So where do all these protesting males think our future workforce is going to come from if they prevent any immigrants entering the country? Logic fail at line 1 Sir Humphrey.

Worth noting that there's a very distinct difference between operant inequality and quiescent or passive inequality. Quiescent or passive inequalities _may_ not lead directly to shame and/or violence but they are both of them frictions in the smooth functioning of society.

Could the AfD become Germany's first far-right party to lead a state since WWII?
AfD Saxony-Anhalt is a racist extremist group, according to the German state's intelligence agency. The party may well trounce its rivals in this weekend's state election.

The bigger issue is: which services or systems do WE all of us consider essential and are we willing to fund them at the level that delivers our expectations. What is or is not essential to a harmonious society?

Frequent potholes on the school run builds ever more tension. relaxed people function better. There's less stress-related diseases and fewer accidents. Generally speaking, relaxed people work better and more productively and collaborate more effectively. It's just a broader social psychology.

no drought conditions, or cheap enery at sensible prices that aren't bankrupting them every time they switch on their oven, or rapid healthcare, or where their streets are cleaned and bins collected on time and efficiently; then people stop feeling quite so tense. Relaxed people function better.

I don't believe it is the _only_ way, but it's certainly _a_ way and one that's fairly simple to implement. It's about reducing social friction: when people feel their essential public services are actually doing what they're supposed to do - clean rivers, clean beaches, clean water,

El Groan once again demonstrating that it's totally out of touch. It's not EU that will change the face of the AI arms race. China has already done so.

Robert Neuschul @rneuschul.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
You might also wish to point out in future that a] there's a data centre and AI crash on its way b] that the industrial nations' conception of a data centre will be entirely redundant by 2028: China has just made the entire sector pointless and wasteful & is trashing the market; see point a] above.

Whilst there's truth in them thar hills it's very far from being the real story. Personal wealth taxation is the smaller of the Elephant's in the Room. Very approximately, unpaid and avoided or evaded business taxes amount to AT LEAST 150% of what would be raised by wealth taxes.

The UK cannot afford on current taxes. UK politicians have been far too scared to come out in force and tell the public honestly that WW3 has been running since 2014 and that we now need to increase defence & intelligence spending by some 20% by way of higher taxes over the next five years.

It's no longer common but doubled letters *used* to be a symptom of mismatched keyboard and region [locale]. Some cures depended on installing an entirely new locale and keyboard such as Australian, deleting your so-called native items, rebooting, cleaning out all old or redundant settings then

Also: the SRA has failed to identify a third danger which is now increasingly common: techopsis. AKA Chinese Whispers for AIs: where the fake/false output of one AI becomes the input for another AI. After a few such sequences authentication and verification is virtually impossible.
022
Robert Neuschul @rneuschul.bsky.social · 25/08/2026
Whilst a good sound warning this doesn't go far enough; SRA needs to introduce a training scheme or make appropriate recommendations for a two part scheme: 1] how to ask questions correctly and well and 2] how to verify and validate AI output.

Article doesn't address this well enough. The Companies Act allows and permits the courts to hold directors personally liable. Why is that not being pursued? The Privatisation Act allowed Government to take the business into Administration for trading while insolvent. Why is that not being pursued?

I could almost agree; to my mind it's not that we lack such people, it's that our national sport is no longer truly football; it's the sport of pulling down anyone who shows the slightest sign of exceeding expectations or of succeeding. We have a lot of truly excellent people in all walks of life.

The UK no longer has any serious newspapers. They all gave in to mass market populism over 25 years ago. Their combined readerships are largely deluded, each in different ways. This does not mean these journals can't [rarely] produce serious pieces from time to time. But mostly not ....

But getting rid of all the tax loopholes and side deals HMRC have done would add a further £40-45Bn annually Meanwhile a wealth tx is only estimated at £35Bn annually.

Robert Neuschul @rneuschul.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
And I'll say that simply collecting the taxes that are owed and unpaid - particularly the corporate/business taxes - would recover some £35-40 Bn annually. That's Parliament's own figures. No additional progressive taxation required.
