The listens of the week: Of Virtue, Against the Waves, and Severals were all super solid. Wage War put out probably their most generic album to date. The Ocean's new vocalists don't really work for me, but the rest of the band is in top form. The others.... fine enough.

I listened to a lot of stuff this week that I really wasn't that jazzed on. None of these really wowed me, unfortunately. Pain of Truth might end up a gym jam (and maybe Spoiler too), but everything else was mediocre at best. (Oh, and should note the Tom Morello album suuuuucks)

In the spring I had a number of soft tissue injuries that limited my training & I had some fits & starts with managing my diet when I wasn't able to train as hard as usual (or at all for small periods of time). I was frustrated with how things were going, but mid-summer I "locked in" and focused.

Three of these albums are absolute bangers: 156/Silence, Gradience, and Movements. Each is the best work the band has yet put out. That Mastodon album... I'm torn. I think it's a great album, but the more I listen to it, I'm not sure I'm connecting to their style of music any longer.

Checking on how things are going, with focus given to diet and exercise I'm making solid progress. I've also given added attention to weightlifting to ensure I'm not losing muscle mass in the pounds I've shed. Hoping to keep this trend going and drop another 8-10 lbs. LFG!

My 8yo learned some real world "OMG, that's a deal!" math at the grocery store today. These arenirmally $3 each but were on closeout for 30 cents. He looked at the prices and realized he could get TEN at the current price for normal treat price & asked if he could. So he has snacks for days now 😅

Never been a huge Motionless in White fan in the past, but I really like Decades a lot! The latest from Axty and Dead Tired are probably each band's best album so far as well. Some solid listens this week (and Electric Callboy is always hella fun).

The new Devildriver and Enox albums are super great. Loathe... might grow on me? I'm not jiving with it right now. And the new Emery album is interesting. It feels like they got divorced, had a midlife crisis, started therapy, and this is what the end result was. It's growing on me.

That night instead of sleep I was fighting fever demons. And the next day I did get meds but basically ceased to be functional for 16 hours while my body warred against the trespassing bacteria. My heart rate and breathing were intense despite laying in a corner all day. What a fight!
