honestly the main thing that kept us from doing anything affirming with our body was being constantly told we needed to or should want to fix our unconventional (non-white) parts to be a girl or something. and so our dysphoria basically just became internalized racism towards ourselves

A collage plays out of Starlight and Twilight's shared connection, starting out with relatively innocuous memories— Starlight teaching Twi to fly a kite, studying forbidden tomes together, hugging... Their bond is clear in all of them, least of all because they're so touchy!
Their shared memories quickly take a turn well beyond mere friendship, first with a flashback of a moment earlier, when Starlight got knocked unconscious in a really compromising position, with Twilight on top of her, pleading for her to wake up.
"Uhm." Twilight stammers nervously in the present. A final scene shows Starlight expertly preening Twilight's wings, much to her surprise and pleasure, asking breathily "W-When did you learn to preen?" (Which is what's being answered in the description)

Panel 2:Back to the present, Twilight hastily interrupts the spell with a shout to "STOP!". Thankfully the spell fizzles out way less violently than the first time, though visibly still quite unexpected for Starlight, who yelps in surprise.

The concept itself means that art only exists for you, not as a shared experience. It shows just how disconnected these people are from human experience and interaction, and how little they understand art in general. They're selfish and lonely and can't see beyond themselves.

Panel 1: Starlight blushes lightly, staring off to the side as an idea pops in her head

Panel 2: "Oh! The shield was powered by their love for each other, right?" Starlight says, referring to Shining Armor and Cadance. "Sooooo maybe that's a key component?" she offers tentatively. Twilight's wings flare in surprise at the suggestion, a blush creeping on her own muzzle.

Panel 3: "Oh! Hm. That's-- interesting!" Twilight stammers nervously, "but maybe the um- 'love' between two friends would work in our case?" she offers, though it's quite obvious the princess is trying and failing to hide her feelings.
"O-oh yeeeah." Starlight drawls, nervous embarrassment all over her expression, "We could try it, right?"

Panel 4: Starlight hops out of the couch and moves forward to the center of the room, quickly taking a sip from a box of apple juice while Twilight settles the picture album she'd been holding on a lectern. "What, now?" Twilight questions.
"Why not? I'm not about to quit after just one try!"
"Are you sure you want to try again so soon?--" Twilight tries to ask.
But is immediately interrupted by Starlight continuing on."--Besides! This apple juice is perking me right up!"
Noting her friend's determination, Twilight concedes, "If you say so..."

Panel 5: "Let's avoid another explosion if we can, though." Twilight cautions nervously, "We'll just focus on synthronizing our mana fields, alright?"
"Got it!" Starlight nods, both their horns beginning to spark with magic

Panel 6: Their horns make contact with a light 'dink!' magic already pouring into their contacting tips as the two speak in unison: "Round two... begin!"

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes
