What’s in a pepper pot? Black chefs gather to celebrate, revive, and update Philadelphia’s signature soup.
In a year full of historical reflections for America's 250th anniversary, the time is ripe to consider an iconic Philadelphia soup that has nearly disappeared — and attempt to revive it.

How does it feel to look at nothing - This #phillyfringe2026 piece is an opera of sorts, but it rarely felt like one. More New-Age-turned-heavy-metal-turned-back-to-New-Age fever dream, I’d say. Interesting music, dance, projection. Bonus: Deep inside is a queer love story. I left feeling all Zen.

SUMMER, 1976: Lantern Theater’s production of David Auburn’s Summer, 1976—about a short-but-intense friendship between two women—is downright charming. And the performers, especially McKenna Kerrigan as the uptight Diana, are particularly effective. Recommended! The show runs through October 11.

AMERICANA COSPLAY: Today’s #phillyfringe2026 outing took me to a meeting house for an immersive adventure about post-Civil War U.S. history. The piece smartly linked manhood, capital, and nationalism. An ending got a little preachy, but it’s easy to get riled up by patriotic testosterone, y’know?
