7) I suggest the field officials be given the subjective right to award a spot kick for deliberate handballs or an egregious lack of discipline by the defender (i.e. a whirling dervish w/ flailing arms). For incidental handballs, award an indirect free kick from the spot the shot was taken…

7) It’s too late to go back to the way it used to be called. No one could bear officials making horrible calls with no backup anymore — it was too overtly subjective. But a possible solution would be to add a touch of subjectivity back into the law while VAR could add a voice of reconsideration…
