Can I just add that research has shown that direct aid is the most effective use of money for reducing suffering, boosting the local economy, encouraging the arts,,, just about any reason that you might be giving.

Nah, it actually sucks at the user level. I live with someone forced to use it, whose coworkers have become progressively less able at their jobs, less able to communicate effectively, less moral, less ethical, more paranoid, and it links directly to the C-suite’s (not-yet homicidal) AI psychosis.

I read "the kids are alright" less as "we're headed in the right direction" and more as "There's hope! They're not all horrid!" And also, I agree that we need to recognize the nuance and the fight for a better culture.

It has been asked elsequote if other colleges would and I can say my alma would have at least entertained the question. It was in the handbook that if you suffered a list of specific tragedies, they'd reimburse you if you had to drop out OR your grades would be frozen if you chose to stay.
