![Spirit manipulation allows people to alter the world around them by using movements, breathing, and language.
This can be in terms of physical objects, energies, and time.
For skilled Qimayiin, this can mean influencing physiology or even psychology of other humans.
In Iichün Zenè, this is (mostly illegal)

'what did you do to me...?']](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:ubhu7tc25glnxlbqngja6b72/bafkreif2ga6x3c5ydfb7kramosmb4w7zego4gq72g5rsv7l5dhj2eg2fbe)
![The world of Yula-e is inhabited by ziryu: semi-sentient natural phenomena originating from stars.
They are invisible and immaterial, but they can influence time and space around them.
In many cultures across Peijh (and elsewhere) they are anthropomorphised and given names, sometimes even worshipped.
These spirits reside in certain physical structures, such as rivers, mountains, the soil, the air, or even (though rarely) organisms.

![In Qull'lie alone, there are many words for these spirits:
Qima - 'spirit', 'god'. Used by most people.
Ziryu - From Nila Sirhii. Used by wizards.
Itazan - 'star wave'. Used by wizards.
Thozan - 'star soul' [respectful]. Used by spell writers.
Iwa - 'star corpse' [derogatory]. Word of foreign origin. Sometimes used by spell writers.](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:ubhu7tc25glnxlbqngja6b72/bafkreibz2xol323p6uop7thcwefhmiva6fw5wrgpf42kkkb3bj7qtnui7q)
