Never saw Jurassic World, but the Creator was visually stunning! That is an example of someone who really understands specific processes and makes the damn thing by investing on what’s in front of the camera and leveraging their know how.

I grew up with film, I don’t hate it. I just think there’s a cultural festishization of a capture format that’s essentially a blackbox for most people and adds unnecessary time and expense to a whole project.

Indie filmmakers should focus their resources more on what’s in front of the camera (costumes, production design, props, makeup etc), rather than the camera itself. If a film stock look is vital to your film for creative reasons, you can build for that in preproduction.

There’s this idea that film > digital because of filmmakers like Nolan who push to shoot everything on film, and it creates this false dichotomy about film being better than digital.

Rishi Gandhi @rishjg.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Any indie filmmaker out there thinking of whether they should shoot on film or digital should always consider digital first. If a film look is something you’re going for, work with a good dp and colorist in pre production to build for that look in your digital pipeline.

My hot take about shooting movies on film: there is no technically superior aspect of shooting on film stock over digital. The only creative reason for using film is “I want to shoot on film”.

How much of the ending of WWH was an editorial mandate vs what you wanted?

One of my early works with longtime collaborator @spaceleech.bsky.social. The arcade, a piece of his childhood, now a graveyard of machines. It was probably the funnest set to shoot on because we were able to play the games later.

I should probably post a link to the movie too! The soundtrack was by @milonogiannis.com and cinematography by @rishjg.bsky.social . The cringe dialogue was all me, but I still like the picture.

Any Indian who boiks at the injustice brought by the massacre at Jallianwala Bagh… Should sympathize and boil at the genocide happening in Gaza. Should speak out at the massacre of the innocent, the hungry, the poor, the children, herded & killed as they simply seek aid.
