When an adult child is out of work, the effects can ripple across generations. A new study of 73k+ adults in #India finds a higher risk of depression among parents of unemployed adult children, especially in more unequal states. An active social life may help. 🔗www.demogr.mpg.de/go/worried-parents

New paper by @rishabhtyagi10.bsky.social, @peibich.bsky.social, @vegardskirbekk.bsky.social Using German longitudinal data, they find that involuntary job loss substantially increases the risk of marital dissolution. Little evidence of variation by gender norms. 🔗 link.springer.com/article/10.1...

I had a wonderful time visiting @demographyvienna.bsky.social this week. Thanks @pdigiulio.bsky.social , Caroline for organizing my Brown bag lunch seminar and everyone at the Institute for being great hosts. I would highly recommend people in the MPIDR-BIB-VID network to make use of this exchange.

In the last couple of years, I’ve explored how involuntary pregnancy loss and live birth impact mental and physical health. Two recent articles - published in Population Development Review and European Journal of Public Health - shed light on these topics.
