Pretty good episode. The tone of the show, perhaps unsurprisingly, is radically different from the movies. But what really gets me is that, from the beginning of the episode, it goes off in a different direction with the case than i expect. Perhaps because i'm conditioned to modern action flicks.

like in the 60s home video didn't exist and it was not expected the show would be ever aired again, hence why Dr Who famously has so many lost episodes. There was no reason to believe anyone watching would not currently BE in 1966.

I thought it was an interesting choice that the show opened with a title card giving the date as October 1966, i don't remember the first 2 eps doing that, and it indeed aired in 66. But they immediately start gaslighting this guy into believing it's 1968, so it was very forward thinking of them.

And again, you may not know anyone else with a physical library, but i am talking about young people. Physical game disc sales increased by 3% this year, DVDs by 15%, and CDs by a whopping 47%. I know i saw blu-ray and 4K numbers this week but i can't find them now.

Oh yeah, all of those things are great. Piracy has noticeably jumped again in the last few years as the streamers enshittify. It doesn't seem to make sense until you start digging into the complex economics behind it, but increases in piracy also lead to increases in physical media sales.

People are definitely sick of the rent-everything-own-nothing-forever economy we've builtbin the last 10-25 years and are opting out in droves. Why pay $80 a month for multiple streaming services that keep removing what you like, when you could use the same budget to buy a few discs to own forever?

I don't think the two things are the same. I remain shocked that the Xbox brand survived the Xbox One rollout, that was where i jumped ship, so PS will probably survive this, because gamers still are what they are. Streaming, though. Every day another person realizes what a bad deal it is and quits.

Eventually realized it was actually Roger Waters's self-titled album, they were letting the whole thing play. Third time through Sex On Fire, they started freestyle rapping over it. I was seated behind the soda machine so i think they forgot i was there. I'm glad they're having a good time, so am i.

Went to Milios and they were playing Pink Floyd deep cuts at a higher volume than you'd expect on the store radio. In the kitchen the staff were listening to Sex On Fire by Kings of Leon on someone's phone and loudly singing along. Ideal dining experience TBH.
