excerpt of Pandora's Vox by humdog

i have seen many people spill their guts on–line, and i did so myself until, at last, i began to see that i had commodified myself. commodification means that you turn something into a product which has a money–value. in the nineteenth century, commodities were made in factories, which karl marx called 'the means of production.' capitalists were people who owned the means of production, and the commodities were made by workers who were mostly exploited. i created my interior thoughts as a means of production for the corporation that owned the board i was posting to, and that commodity was being sold to other commodity/consumer entities as entertainment. that means that i sold my soul like a tennis shoe and i derived no profit from the sale of my soul. people who post frequently on boards appear to know that they are factory equipment and tennis shoes, and sometimes trade sends and email about how their contributions are not appreciated by management.

Big language learning milestone: I remember watching this video when I was first starting out with Japanese and feeling like there was noooo way I'd hit 600 days straight like he did. Today is day 600 for me.

People can rag on the Chibnall era of Doctor Who all they want, I think at this point it's starting to cement in for me that they gave us my favourite version of the Master there.

I can't shake the feeling that this is a real place I've travelled to through the method of dreaming.

Alright y'all are probably tired of me posting about my website lol but here's a quick look back on how it's changed over the last few years courtesy of archive.org.

The first snapshot of audiovalentine.com, dated May 29th 2023. A barebones front page with my name, contact info, and a link to a CV of "Things I've Made".

The second snapshot, dated August 5th 2024. The blog structure begins to take shape, with posts and topics. There's a missing header image.

The third snapshot January 22nd, 2025. The multi-column layout has arrived, the blog has more posts, and there's a self-introduction blurb.

The current layout of the website, as completed April 17th, 2025. It has a pink cloud background, multiple columns, many blog posts, and more widgets.

Just finished Careless People, pretty damn good read, would recommend it to anyone. Only some small issues with Red Scare lib vibes near the end, but aside from that very salient and extensive insight into just how sick and twisted Mark Zuckerberg and the rest are.

A tumblr post containing an excerpt from the book Careless People, where the author has to explain to one of her bosses that establishing PACs in foreign countries and funnelling money towards political groups that would support Facebook's goals internationally through politics is illegal. Joel does not understand at all.
