A graphic representation of my attempts to install Ollama and Msty on my desktop machine, compose knowledge stacks of my Obsidian vault and academic papers in PDF. #fail #obsidian.md #academicSky

I have access to ChatGPT Deep Research. Previously only available on the $200 a month subscription. Follows hot on the heels of Google providing Deep Research to anyone with a Google Workspace subscription. So now I have access to two competing models. #AI #deepresearch #chatgpt #gemini

As tech advances, specialisation occurs. Initially needing to know everything about computers, now relying on experts. Same with AI, shifting focus from understanding models to practical skills for safe and effective use. #academicSky #productivity

Lamenting the advent of AI and its use in higher ed is like yelling at the sun for rising. #academicsky

It all starts today. Starting on V2 of my #Obsidian Scholar course with new integration workflows for #Zotero and improved annotation methods. There will also be new #AI features added to the demo vault. #academicSky

I have Google workspace account, Gemini Advanced account and cannot access Deep Research as there is no dropdown appearing. Naturally, it's best to ask Google itself through Gemini about support. #academicSky #googlesupport Disappointing when the response is:

Seriously? Are suggested prompt begins, "Give me content to start a conversation with a new connection on LinkedIn by sharing..." Have we really reached a stage where people need help to start a conversation? #AI #sad #communication

I will be pulling an "all-nighter" tonight to complete the @mindstudioai certification training. That's the intent anyway. We will see how we go. Midnight to 8am. Looking forward to the learning experience. #AI #nocode

Another example of AI escaping through the cracks of peer review and the publisher's scrutiny. I'm all for using AI ethically in academia as a tool just like a calculator, but this reflects poorly on anyone involved. #academic #academicwriting #academicjournal www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Unbelievable. Seems peers can't read. From Elsevier's site- "All articles in open access journals which are published by Elsevier have undergone peer review and upon acceptance are immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download" #academic www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Worried about #AI. People in 1880s were worried about electricity too! And the link for veracity - library.osu.edu/dc/concern/g...
