Did you know that We Need Diverse Books is already hard at work combatting book bans? In 2025, we launched the Unbanned Book Network — our newest initiative that combats the sharp rise in book bans by filling classroom shelves with diverse titles that have been banned/challenged. 📖 bit.ly/WNDB-UBN
Graphic with a pastel purple checkered tablecloth background. The graphic is titled “Most Requested Titles in the Unbanned Book Network — and Other Updates”. At the center of the graphic is an illustration of a shopping basket filled with three books: “Miles Morales: Spider-Man”, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”, and “Warrior Girl Unearthed”. Graphic with a pastel purple checkered tablecloth background. This slide is titled “What is the Unbanned Book Network?” and contains the following description: “The Unbanned Book Network, first launched by WNDB in 2025, is designed to improve literacy rates at K-12 public schools and fight book bans that have disproportionately targeted diverse creators and stories. The Network works by addressing three key areas: Distributing diverse books and resources to schools affected by censorship; Connecting classrooms with a diverse Author Ambassador; and Providing training, webinars, resources, and community for participating schools/teachers.”
