I love Tessa Bailey and (most of) her books, so when I heard she was dipping her toe into the romantic fantasy waters, I was highly intrigued to see how her romcom chops handled the challenge. Broken Rival centers on a girl named Magnolia who is a timetraveler. She's from 50 years in the future, where food and water are hard to come by.

I've been a fan of Holly James since her first published book, so seeing her spread her wings under a different name and subgenre is exciting. Holly Michelle made her debut with a sports-adjacent romance. I love sports romance, so I was eager to see Holly's take on baseball. Last Night Was Fun follows two employees of San Diego's professional baseball team.

My girl Holly Michelle (aka Holly James) is back to her roots of romance with a magical twist! If you're looking for a light and fun read, this might be one to add to your TBR. You'll Be The Death of Me is perfect for fans of The Good Place TV show and the movie Eternity. It's set in the afterlife, where a corporation helps people transition from death to life.

San Diego Comic Con kicked off their Ballroom 20 programming in 2026 with a celebration of the beloved anime, My Hero Academia. Crunchyroll sponsored the panel to honor the 10th anniversary of the beloved anime and debut the short film, I Am A Hero Too, which will release on the platform in early August. Lauren Moore, Associate Creative Director and host for Crunchyroll moderated the panel, which included English dub voice actors Christopher Sabat (All Might), Justin Briner (Izuku Midoriya), Clifford Chapin (Katsuki Bakugo), and David Matranga (Shoto Todoroki), and focused on how things have changed over the last decade.

For the first time, San Diego Comic Con welcomed a K-Pop group to its stage for the 2026 event. The six members of ENHYPEN appeared alongside the director and two cast members of Twilight to talk about the cultural impact of vampires. The combination of Korean musicians and vampires might initially raise questions of their connection, but they are closer than you might think.

I love a good romance mystery mashup, (yes, I know 'romantic suspense' is the term, but I don't love it. Mash up is more fun.), so when I heard about Cara Tanamachi taking a stab at it (haha), I was intrigued. We had talked about the potential of being on each other's podcasts many moons ago, so I was eager to say yes when Forever offered a copy and to set up the interview (see below).

Soman Chainani is known for putting his own spin on fairytale vibes for more than a decade. When he announced that he was shaking it up and switching to publishing a contemporary novel, and one with quite the premise. Young World is told mostly through journal entries for Benton Young's government class project. He writes about having a crush on a girl who tells him he needs to have a cause that will improve the world and it's not enough to just live.

I was first introduced to Ashley Winstead via the book club at C2E2, when we read Midnight Is the Darkest Hour, which I loved. I also read one of her romance books ahead of that weekend to prepare …

If you've been around the LiteraryHype world for a minute, you've probably seen me end up in a situation because I dove into a book without researching it at all. I avoid reading blurbs because I'm really good at picking out details that lead to figuring the whole book out early. This time, I thought the title of Warrior Princess Assassin…

In getting ready for Love Y'all Book Festival, I saw that Kasie West was attending, and since I had a copy of her adult debut, I added it to the TBR, and I'm so glad I did. This was my first Kasie West book and it won't be my last. We Met Like This starts with an unfortunate first date that ends up...

Sometimes, my TBR game gives me a prompt that conveniently works with the reading list I have for an event. February 2026's game gave me 'fake dating' as a prompt, and I had Stranger Things Have Happened by Kasie West in my Love Y'all Book Festival pile. It says, "Fake it 'till you make it or fall in love trying" on the cover, so it was a perfect pick.

Matt Dinniman is riding a popularity wave right now for his LitRPG series, Dungeon Crawler Carl, but he's also feeding fans with a standalone novel to hold everyone over until book 8 of DCC and the graphic novel. Operation Bounce House is about a guy named Oliver who runs a ranch with his sister and their fleet of droids, called honeybees.

BookCon made its highly anticipated return to the event calendar after six years, but fans have incredibly mixed reviews. The event happened April 18-19, 2026 at the north end of the Javits Center in New York City, and was met with challenges and expectations many felt were unmet. However, not all of the complaints are as bad as the internet would have you believe, and many report still having a great time.
