Tomorrow is polling day in the Holborn & St Pancras by-election. Good luck to Liberal Democrat candidate Patrick Stillman!

10 years on from Brexit, Europe is back on people’s minds. London St Pancras is Britain’s gateway to Europe, Patrick Stillman sets out the Lib Dem plan to rebuild ties with Europe and boost growth.

The Green Party's leadership needs to get an urgent grip on the party. Allowing the Corbynistas to flood the party unchecked has led to exactly the same antisemitism that took over Labour years and which took years to eradicate. So entirely predictable and yet also deeply sad.

Most millennials don’t think there will be a state pension when they retire so this isn’t being done with them in mind Pensioners will gain more from free social care than a linking rise of state pension to earnings Proud of triple lock in coalition but we must plan for future not venerate the past

Agree with @tomgordonld.bsky.social here. The triple lock was absolutely the right thing to do when it was introduced and has helped reduce pensioner poverty. But we've got to look at it again when finances are tight and money is needed for other things.

It's quite remarkable how every party has had significant ups and downs in polling since 2024 *except* the Lib Dems where we've been incredibly consistent. NB: I'm not saying this is a good thing (we absolutely should have made more of a break through in the last two years) but it's still notable.

This is the difference that having Liberal Democrats on Southwark Council is making. Free school uniforms for those struggling. Helping make lives for families across our borough that bit easier during a cost of living crisis. Well done @southwarklibdems.bsky.social 👇🏻

A hugely disappointing outcome. All this means is that people will continue to suffer needlessly and be denied any autonomy or agency over how they spend their final hours. Yes, we need better palliative care, but forcing those who are suffering right now to wait is just cruel.

I think we're at the point where we can incredibly comfortably say that your attitude towards Reform, Restore, MAGA, the AfD etc is how you'd have responded to fascism in the 1930s

Excellent piece from @stephenkb.bsky.social here. I'd hoped that under Burnham we'd see Labour actually start to show its mettle in the face of the rise of the far right. Instead, absolutely nothing. www.ft.com/content/2279...

I find this baffling. Yes, Kemi's improving but they lost 100s councillors at the last two sets of local elections. They got 2% of the vote in Makerfield and less than 2% in Gorton and Denton. They're polling below their 2024 general election result. Where is this confidence coming from?

The government has finally published its draft Conversion Practices Bill, a welcome step and one that the @libdems.org.uk have been calling for for years. This is good, but the devil is in the detail and the Bill is full of loopholes and caveats, undermining its aim. 🧵 www.gov.uk/government/p...

The evidence from Australia is clear: a ban on social media for under 16s doesn't work (and it would be wrong, even if it did). Burnham should ditch this policy straight away, and focus on addressing the problematic aspects of social media (addictive design features, the algorithms used, etc).

Richard Wingfield @richardwingfield.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
Yes, I think that's the plan.

Richard Wingfield @richardwingfield.bsky.social · 15/06/2026
Ridiculous, just ridiculous for so many reasons. It's wrong in principle. It won't work in practice. It will undermine the safety and privacy of everyone using the internet. I despair of this government on a near-daily basis, but this is a particular low point for them.

Thank you Marie. As a party, the @libdems.org.uk must stand firm in defence of trans rights and the progress we've made. This Code of Practice would be hugely regressive and diminish the status of trans people in society. It's wholly unacceptable.

Thanks to @richardwingfield.bsky.social & @southwarklibdems.bsky.social for confirming a commitment to our #LocalElection2026 asks. A clean air cabinet member, action on #WoodBurning, supporting #SchoolStreets & reducing miles driven in the borough are all needed to clean up #Southwark's air.

Simon Hughes is an inspiration for many of us in the Lib Dems. A hard working community champion who stood up for his area and its residents. It you want councillors who will roll up their sleeves and get things done in your area, vote Liberal Democrats on 7 May. 🔶

Such heartbreaking news to wake up to this morning. I grew up watching Home Alone (and Home Alone 2) over and over as a kid, and Schitt's Creek made the pandemic just that little bit more bearable. A truly brilliant and hilarious actor.

I mean, great, making it optional rather than mandatory is an improvement. But this whole scheme is still a waste of money and will do little if anything to solve any real problems the country faces. The public are against it and Labour really just need to scrap the whole thing.

Ed is absolutely right here. Trump is threatening to seize the territory of a UK ally. Such abhorrent behaviour - no different to Putin's invasion of Ukraine - should see sanctions on the US at the absolute minimum.

I joined the Liberal Democrats because of the Iraq War and Charles Kennedy's principled stance against it. 20 years later and, once again, a Labour government appears indifferent to international law and the use of force without justification. History repeating itself.

If Labour is serious about growth, their MPs will back the @libdems.org.uk Bill to establish a UK-EU customs union. The majority of the county now things Brexit was a mistake and should be reversed. And we know businesses are struggling and this would help massively. This should be a no brainer.
