Because calling it “change” vs “warming” is a way to muddy the true meaning of what it is. It all stems from a 2002 memo from a GOP political consultant as a way to deescalate urgency around global warming. And as a result the Bush administration adopted the change in their speeches.

Have you ever been stuck scrolling on YouTube? After a while when I break out of it it feels like I’ve got a hangover Apps like YouTube are literally stealing hours out of our day and sapping our lives away. These apps aren’t going anywhere and we need ethical engineers to build a safer alternative

The reason I’m so adamant about this is that the current ecosystem outside of ATproto for short form vids is ATROCIOUS It’s predatory, brainrot-ridden, & designed to preserve mindless scrolling. I don’t think we’re aware of the cognitive damage it’s doing to us ATproto could offer something better

Hard agree, just imagine how cool it would be for there to be video apps that offer different formatting options for short form vids and then seeing them all stream together on a Bluesky short form video feed. As opposed to brainrot scrolling on YouTube where every other video uses the “oh no” song

I genuinely believe this will not only encourage new growth on the platform, but it will help enrich the conversation around how we improve Atmosphere algorithms, which is another major area that requires improvement on the protocol.
