What a farce. As farmers fail to access funds to support sustainable farming, this will undoubtedly mean valuable wildlife habitat (recently created or much older) will be destroyed, as farmers feel they have no option but to intensify their farming systems. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

PREORDERS ARE OUT TODAY FOR MY NEWEST FIELD GUIDE, "WIDOW SPIDERS OF THE WORLD"!!!! www.owlflyllc.com/publishing
The front cover of my new field guide to widow spiders. The cover is artfully decorated with seven black, red, brown, and white spotted and striped spider illustrations showing some of the variability within the genus Latrodectus. A tiny male widow spider is positioned in the center on top of a spiky egg sac. From top to bottom, the text of the cover reads "Owlfly Publishing | Widow Spiders of the World | A Traveler's Guide to Dangerous Spiders | Written & Illustrated by Chris Alice Kratzer"

Many thanks to the visitors who cleared up the remains of a BBQ at #TrenchWood before we got there. We shouldn’t have to remind everyone that fires and barbecues are not allowed on our nature reserves. Please take all rubbish home as discarded items, especially glass bottles, can ignite 🔥
Worcestershire Wildlife Trust notice reading "No fires or BBQs at our nature reserves" displayed over a sunlit grassy path beneath trees, warning visitors to avoid open fires in the reserve.

New BeeWalk data shows that extreme temperatures can cause bumblebee colonies to decline and populations to shrink the following spring. With more intense heatwaves on the horizon, some of our most cherished species could be pushed to the brink. Read more: ow.ly/JMNs50ZqHir
