“Here’s some extra tuition fee money actually no we’ll have that back through increased NI (bit less though if you lay people off, amirite) and squeezy squeezy on your ability to bring in international students” “…err this looks a bit…” “…like a firmer financial footing, you’re welcome”

Got through it. But very much initially scheduled in a "this is ages away!" spirit. It's only for a couple of weeks this term, fortunately.

Shouldn't Russia have been campaigning to keep us in the EU given how many shackles it apparently had us in?

We got through it - I will say slightly conked out in hour seven. It's just a lot of continual talking if over half of it is lectures.

What the purpose of the other guy is? As ever, who knows. Must be a tax right off thing or he was really good at the tech stuff in the early days when they didn’t have a budget

Not a huge OJ guy but he absolutely exposes Kisin throughout this whole interview. Credit for him going on, book to sell or not. Kisin’s “you keep interrupting me” whilst doing exactly the same thing under the guise of “you know we rigorously challenge people here” (really - everyone?) is v.grating

It would seem the Home Office has now acquired the ability to impose, without visibility or accountability, shadow bans on students coming to British universities from particular countries. How? Because of the interaction between indiv visa decisions (made by HO alone) and visa rules for unis 1/?

A fascinating editorial decision from the BBC, to make the headline a scaremongering “AUTISM AND ADHD ARE BEING OVERDIAGNOSED”, and then, four bullet points later, have the author of the report quoted as essentially saying “nah, that’s bullshit, actually”.
ADHD and autism at risk of over-diagnosis, says report, as author warns of rise in mental ill health
Summary
• An official review in England finds there is a risk of people being over-diagnosed with
ADHD and autism - three key findings from the report
• As well as neurodevelopmental conditions, the review looks at mental ill health, particularly in younger people. Our health correspondent explains the difference
• It was commissioned earlier this year after Wes Streeting, then the health secretary, said there was an "over-diagnosis" of mental health conditions
• Speaking to Radio 4's Today programme earlier, review chair Prof Peter Fonagy said Streeting was "with respect, completely wrong"

A test which 95% of these mandatory trainings would fail: if someone can just click through to the end not reading any of it at all but still get 100%, it's not adding much.

This plus general playground attendance and I’m thinking certainly at primary school it’s *under*diagnosed. Hell, for wider ND I think walk around a town centre for an hour and I’d conclude that’s under diagnosed.

I’ve seen a kid fling themselves around a room and then alternatively act incredibly bored by the examination process/zone out for questions and not get an ADHD diagnosis and it didn’t *feel* an over-diagnosed condition in that scenario. The threshold is higher than “giving them out like sweets.”

Pleased to announce that ADHD is being overdiagnosed again according to the BBC and pathetic skidmark Wes Streeting, so now - during ADHD Awareness Month no less - it's time to give it up and just be normal. Let it go. Just turn it off and get on with things www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

10 years ago: here’s a VLE. It’s really basic but you have a reading list and some essay questions. Fine. Now: you can upload a poll, a video, several assignment submission portals into three very similar named folders for some reasons, the reading list is held externally for some reason!

Here's something you already do but you'll now need to mash buttons on new programmes that don't work and then email a human anyway. Or here's a function that exists but we've created a nominally data led version of it but one with so many flaws everyone will just ignore it anyway.
