I forgot to announce when I went live today but I made a lot of progress on Control and hit my 10 follower goal! Tomorrow is the makeup stream for Wednesday!

Yo, no stream today, I'm going to be taking a break after a long and exhausting week at work. Tomorrow should be good to go and I'll go live on Friday to make up for not streaming today.

I wanted to make a youtube short out of a stream moment but changed my mind when I figured they would be more trouble than they're worth... until I started getting clips from other small vtubers in my feed. So I guess I'm making that short after all.

It hurt more because from our perspective we've seen how loved by the people of Xuanfang and Mengzhou as a whole she was and how much they missed seeing her. And also, I did like the subtle hint that the fox shadow that Suisui talked to in 3.5 was Suhsin, not Hsin herself.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

I didn't say anything at the time but I did recognize Hsin's struggles to live up to her perceived status of "Sentinel" and all of the burdens she carried and everything she sacrificed just to prove to herself that she could be the new Moon Fox.

I wish I was able to properly appreciate the animated scene in wuwa 3.7 in the moment, but I was so tired and constantly worrying about the next out of memory error that I couldn't properly process it emotionally. But this game, man. What a great game. What a work of art.

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Reddit says the problem is likely with wuwa itself and won't go away by moving OBS and Vtube Studio off of my desktop but I genuinely and honestly don't trust a single word they say on there.

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Basically use the laptop as a portable streaming PC. My entire setup works on Linux but with Steam shutting down three times last night due to shader compilation, I don't want to keep dealing with that. The extra work adds extra convenience I think, so it might be worth doing.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I'll be reinvesting my overtime pay into a capture card so that I can play games on my desktop and route it to my laptop. Should mitigate the risk of Steam closing due to shader-related OOM issues. I can also record streams directly to the laptop to take to work for editing.

See, the difference between the right and the left is that the left holds views that are not the result of ideological bias. They're a result of 50 years of social and economic turmoil. It's a direct response to being told that certain people don't deserve to live. That's necessity.

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I tried editing the Wuthering Waves streams but they're quite boring and a bit of a departure from the kind of content I want to make, so I'm not going to be putting them on YouTube. I may just convert them into videos in the Twitch editor. Monday could be for the non-game video ideas I have.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Today's stream will be a bit late, I'm watching Fraiki's graduation. Will try to start 7:30-8:00 PM EST with the rest of WuWa 3.7.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

I literally can't keep my eyes open, I have to end early this time around. I'll finish the rest of WuWa 3.7 on Sunday with a 4 hour stream. This work week has been hell lmao. I'm gonna go get some sleep.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

I may look like a dumb anime character on stream just coasting through life reacting to things with jokes and meme but while editing the videos I noticed a ton of things that I missed because I was more focusing on trying to be funny. I have always been a lore nerd!

A video script

1) Dr. Darling was talking about the “Service Weapon” in the recorded video. He held up a cube, which is the actual object. The cube becomes the gun, or sword, or whatever (intentionally left blank)

2) There is a lot of emphasis on “platonic solids” (that’s platonic as in Plato) i.e. cubes, pyramids, dodecahedrons, etc. which Plato believed to be what composed the “classical elements”. The story seems to also apply the antiquated beliefs of “sacred geometry” to important objects such as the Pyramid and the Service Weapon.

3) Another of Plato’s concepts that the game adapts is the Allegory of the Cave to describe how the world may look to the uneducated or ignorant. It illustrates this by having a group of people chained to a wall inside the cave and forced to look at shadows created by people behind the wall holding objects in front of a fire. The application of it in Honkai Star Rail is nonsensical, but in Control it actually refers to the fact that humanity essentially lives in a bubble (The Cave/The Room/The Known World) that occasionally lets in things from outside (Behind the Wall/Behind the Poster/Astral Plane)

Tonight's and tomorrow's streams will be at 9pm-11pm EST. Gonna be playing WuWa 3.7!

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

My video style inspiration is much different from the forced zoomer/gen alpha bs I tried as "Baldygen". It's much closer to Markiplier's or JackSepticEye's but with the same focus on lore and video consistency as my 2012 videos with only the occasional meme sprinkled in there.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Wow, I used to take 4 days to edit one video. Now I can finish one a day. First Control video (with scuffed audio and overlays) will be up this Friday and next Monday is going to be the WuWa 3.7 MSQ playthrough if I can stream it tonight. Friday = normal games, Monday = gacha games.

100

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Surprise, the audio in the recorded VOD sucks and there are overlays all over the screen. Well nobody said the return was going to be a smooth one... It'll be fixed for next stream. I'm planning on just getting entirely rid of the overlays because they don't currently serve any purpose.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

If I can fix the audio, I'm going to cut up tonight's Control 1 stream into 8 30-minute videos. If not, I'm still going to cut up tonight's Control 1 stream into 8 30-minute videos but I'm going to be mad about it the entire time.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Unfortunately, this upcoming week is going to be the hardest week of my life at work. 8 work days, one day off. If I don't off myself or walk out, it will be a miracle. That does mean Wendesday and Thursday streams are looking iffy but I'll try to do something around 9pm.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

And actually, when I made a YTcommunity post after privating all of my videos, I told people that I was becoming a Vtuber and to unsub. But I GAINED a subscriber. So at least on YouTube, I'm perfectly fine. The content I make is going to be for me, and I hope people enjoy it.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I didn't realize how big of a mistake I was making by using a third-party program to remove all of my Twitch followers when I was first planning on starting over. I definitely shot myself in the foot there. Maybe I can use my existing YouTube subs to rebuild it, because I preserved my channel.

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

I'm going to be working overtime next week, so I may not be going live for WuWa 3.7 until next Sunday. Tomorrow, I'll try to stream Control 1 on my laptop. My attempts to get my streaming setup running on my Linux PC were mostly successful but the lack of hotkeys for Vtube Studio and OBS hurts.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Actually, what I'll do is take today and tomorrow off like I was supposed to, and spend some of that time working on getting a streaming setup on my Linux PC up and running. Then I'll go live on Sunday with the new setup. I may do a short test stream tomorrow (~1hr) to test everything before then.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

No stream today, was running around all day. Will try again tomorrow.

001

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

I was just reminded that Control exists. Tonight's stream is Control 1. I've never finished it, but I really really really want to.

110

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

Too tired to keep streaming today, and I also overestimated the amount of story left to do so I have nothing else for today lmao. Tomorrow I'll see if I can go live with a horror game. And maybe be less tired.......... I don't want to burn out immediately, so I'll take a little rest for now.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Unironically, I have so much fun streaming that I didn't even notice that nobody watched the last one. I can see why Vtubing is the default streaming meta for introverts. Tomorrow will be the rest of WuWa 3.6, and then another game if we have time. Probably a horror game. I don't know.

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Live in less than 5 minutes with finishing up Wuthering Waves 3.6 MSQ, then Tower of Adversity runs. Will try to go for 4 hours today just to see if I'm able to do it. Free TTS (with cooldown) and backseating enabled! twitch.tv/ricebaker

I recorded this inside a Walmart

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

I think I might stream today if I'm not tired out by work. Wednesday was supposed to be finishing WuWa 3.5 MSQ and then Tower of Adversity but MSQ could be moved up to today or tomorrow. I really miss streaming, I'm so glad to be back at it again.

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

being transgender is like having all of the crystals to finish the game but not having any idea of what they're for until you progress the story then when you figure it out, you look back on your life like "OH THE ANSWERS WERE RIGHT THERE"

000

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

First stream back was an objective success even if the numbers didn't go higher than 3. The fact that I can stream using my laptop is incredible. Next one is on Wednesday! Check my channel for next week's schedule as well. I'm 100% serious about streaming this time around.

001

RiceBaker (Ruby) @ricebaker.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Update: Test stream over, now t hat the kinks are ironed out, I'll go live at 7pm EST instead so that we can get right into it without the tech troubles. That's also going to be the time that I start streaming from now on as well.

And just like that, the rebrand is complete. BadIdeas is no more, now I am obnoxious. ✨
