I wish there was a way to measure/express just how much D.A.R.E. affected us. As soon as folks start even talking about drugs I’m gone. D.A.R.E. Had my best friend in such a chokehold that when she nine year old, wrote the PRESIDENT about drug use in America.

But it feels so foreign & confusing. My friends ask me what I need & I don’t know. I haven’t taken time off because sitting around feels worse. Talking to one of our attorneys about our schedule today & I just burst into tears. I told her why I was crying she was like why in the hell are you here?

I haven’t cried this much in years. And out of nowhere! Im just sitting at my desk and here come the tears again. I wasn’t even thinking of her. Why am I crying? I haven’t slept. I’m not hungry. I haven’t left my house. Logically, I *know* this is grief. This is what I’m supposed to be feeling.

One of the pitfalls (if you want to call it that) of healing (hate that word) is that when bad things happen, you can no longer ignore it/push thru it. In the past, I would acknowledge the feeling, and keep it moving. Because life. My baby sister died unexpectedly Monday. She was only 35. 💔

If your kids need real sex ed and the schools won’t provide it, your local UU church likely has the OWL program. It’s usually run very explicitly as a community service, not just an internal church thing, and the facilitators have to go through training.
