Watched Coraline, good film, very pretty art direction.

Watched Resident Evil (2026) great horror film. MINOR SPOILERS: Has very little to do with Resident Evil beyond surface level names and places. (E.g. city is named Racoon City, theirs a typewriter in one shot etc) No specific monsters, no game characters, nothing.

Well if it isn't that time of the month again where I once again say, if you use generative AI what so ever, that is an instant and indefinite block from me. There is no excuse.

Watched Trick 'r Treat (2007). Feels like a bunch of goosebumps episodes stitched together, its fun, very traditional Halloween type movie.

Watched BrainDead (Dead Alive), very crazy, creative film that seems to have the sole goal of overwhelming and disgusting the viewer, not sure how to feel.

Watched Colony, interesting concept but also a lot of plot, really fun movie though.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

Watched Mutiny, first 10 minutes are the best part, the rest is very run of the mill Jason Statham, you either like it or you dont.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Watched Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, its entertaining enough.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Watched Godzilla vs Mothra (Battle for Earth). Not bad, clearly taking a lot of its story cues from the original Mothra vs Godzilla, if a little less subtle and action focused.

RIP Dolly Parton, was never an avid follower of her music but she was by all accounts, an amazing person with more grace, humility and kindness than most people, need more Dolly Partons in the world.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Watched Coyote vs ACME, its good, funny and heartfelt. Go watch it please. Only complaint (and this is an unfair complaint) no movie will ever top Who Framed Rodger Rabbit for the animated characters actually feeling like a part of the world.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Watched Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah. Nonsensical time travel rules and plot mostly delivered through people explaining things over the phone, not great.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

Watched Godzilla vs Biolante, good movie.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

Watched The Amazing Digital Circus, great. Visuals are stellar, sometimes the dialogue can feel a little unnatural with characters completely spelling out how they feel but not always. I will happily take sincere characters with some clumsy dialogue over the alternative though, cried a lot.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

Watched Romeo and Juliet (1968). Whilst never really having much personal connection to Romeo and Juliet as a story this is one of the more faithful adaptations, it seemingly actually takes place in Italy for a start. Lots of nice old architecture in it.

That time of the month to remind people again...if you post generative AI...of ANY kind...for ANY purpose...you will be blocked...INSTANTLY and FOREVER...no take backs. I encourage more people to engage in this practise.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

Watched Spider-Man:Brand New Day. Great film. Story is solid, all the crossover characters feel thematically relevant to the story being told and not just stunt cameos, the suit design is one of the best ever and the web swinging feels exciting again.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

Watched Thunderbolt (1995), had vague memories of this from childhood but man is this one awesome. One of the best Jackie Chan films.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

Watched Nosferatu, very well made film. I like but I feel like I continue to not gel 100% Robert Eggars specific directing style. Everything is so cleanly shot and decorated with so few imperfections that it feels a little too sterile for the subject matter at times. Needed to be messier I think.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 22/07/2026

Watched The Odyssey, enjoyed it quite a lot. Surprising amount of well executed horror in the movie of all things.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

Watched Terror of Mechagodzilla. Some fun character stuff and Godzilla gets a really cool entrance, its a shame it happens FORTY FIVE MINUTES into this EIGHTY TWO minute film...5 of those minutes are an entire recap of the previous film. Strange, strange pacing in this movie.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

Watched Rumble in the Bronx (Hong Kong cut). Great film.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 12/07/2026

Watched The Evil Dead, pretty good, even all those years ago Raimi loves to treat the camera like its own character, never letting it stop moving, always having its movement be motivated by the story.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 12/07/2026

Watched Return of the Living Dead. Fun little movie, you can see where it pushes up against its own budget at times when the characters run back and forth between the same 3 locations the whole movie but not bad. Less horror and more comedy in my opinion but still neat.

Id software had the worlds most talented game developers. They successfully rebooted DOOM into a highly respected and profitable modern trilogy each with a completely unique spin on the formulae. 1/3

Their is a small silver lining that’s kinda keeping my happiness going right now, when this AI bubble bursting finally catches up to consumer computer hardware industry pricing, theirs going to be a massive surplus of cheap pc parts.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Watched Obsession, liked most of it, prefer the first half to the second half but second half isn’t bad. It is at its best when it is portraying relatable moments of toxic behaviour from people both in and out of relationships, how people act when they are putting their own wants over others.

100

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 30/06/2026

Watched Spirited Away, very pretty. For a movie that’s now over 20 years old, the actual story seems so non conventional and original. That's also ignoring the stellar animation and art on display obviously. Also yes this was my first Ghibli movie, I plan to fix that.

110

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 26/06/2026

Watched Supergirl, not bad...but...Minor complains are just that the action suffers a little from editing, lighting and the whole "pg13-ification" of it all, a lot of moments that are supposed to be violent and impactful end up not landing at all because of how much gets obscured or just not shown.

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 19/06/2026

Watched 'Normal' (2025). Some pretty fun shoot outs. Maybe its the movies intention or maybe the movie is just dumb, i cant tell, but for all the events in the movie to happen and then for things to just seemingly return to the way they were with no repercussions feels really lackluster.

My @2mello.net CDs arrived. Love the artwork on them!

010

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 04/06/2026

Watched Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. Its ok...Mechagodzilla design is cool, same recycled plotline of aliens trying to secretly invade earth again with a kaiju for the 5th or 6th time.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 31/05/2026

Watched The Long Walk. Theirs been alot of stories that are metaphors for how facism turns life into a miserable existence where the majority are pitted against eachother in daily life but it's a story that continues to be relevant and a message that should keep being repeated. Good movie.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 31/05/2026

Watched 'Backrooms', quite good Very solid script and doesn't overstay it's welcome. No real complaints.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 17/05/2026

Watched Mortal Kombat II, very underwealming, production wise, it is nicely shot, it feels like an expensive, well made movie. But the story feels bland, the music is generic with almost no inspiration from its EDM roots from the original movie, i just didnt gel with alot of the creative decisions.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 14/05/2026

Watched Godzilla vs Gigan. Gigan is a cool design and the fighting in this one is quite well done, the destruction is fun too. However, the plot is paper thin and the humans have almost no interaction with the kaiju on screen, visually completely seperated, its like two seperare movies.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

New Blu-ray haul, never seen the Dollars trilogy or Nosferatu so thought I'd get them. Also Fifth Element is a classic and Sisu: Road to Vengeance is such a straight forward, well made action movie with no fluff.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 05/05/2026

Watched Godzilla vs. Hedorah, big step up, quite liked this one, about on par with Mothra vs. Godzilla. The editing in the movie stoodout as being really interesting and almost experimental.

010

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 01/05/2026

Watched All Monsters Attack (1969). Really didnt gel with this one at all. It has like a proto home alone plot with dream sequences of previous movies godzilla fights recontextualised as the kids fears of bullies, but its all just kinda dull for me.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 01/05/2026

Watched Destroy All Monsters (1968), feels like mostly a retreat of Invasion of the Astro Monster but with more monsters and Ghidorah getting abolutely pancaked at the end which was fun.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 26/04/2026

Watched Son of Godzilla. These movies have settled into a formulae which makes it a little boring, bunch of people on an island, couple kaiju just randomly bumping into eachother when its convinient for the plot...eventually the humans find a way to resolve the problem/escape. The end.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 25/04/2026

Watched Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, Ebirah is a cool design and the movie plays with the idea of a smarter godzilla, its ok.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 25/04/2026

Watched Invasion of the Astro Monster. Meh.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 25/04/2026

Watched Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster. Very middle of the road monster movie, doesn't really introduce any new ideas thematically. The monster fights are somewhat fun.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 23/04/2026

Watched "Pegasus", fairly run of the mill underdog story with some overly choppy editing at times, but it has some charm.

000

RhysClark97 @rhysclark97.bsky.social · 19/04/2026

Watched Mothra vs. Godzilla. Improvement over the last one, had a concentrated attempt to establish actual themes and character motivations in this one about matual trust between people and not building carelessly and indiscriminaitely just for the sake of profit.
