yeah the concept of 'adventurer' demands such a specific shape of the world. whys it worth employing them? people can be stupid but they dont usually do things arbitrarily against their own obvious self-interest. so why do it? and we HAVE an answer- the reasons people have already done so.

why are people capable of deploying such large scale violence allowed to remain mercenary? either the state is so diffuse or unformed as to be unable to enforce a monopoly of violence, or it serves the needs. where do 'quests' come from. why are mercenaries useful? are they all privateers?

an idea i keep turning over in my head is a campaign that reframes 'adventurer' along the lines of the adventurers act of 1640. learning about it made it so the word adventurer always feels a little foul to me. theres meat there that is messy and interesting

theyre pretty hit and miss in terms of quality but i def have gotten a lot of good use out of say, the ones that give like 6 res during a fight, the ones that stat buff, anything that does mag damage, and the brawling art that does follow ups before the enemy swings

yeah exactly, and enemies are tough enough and strong enough that a) extra damage is welcome and b) the bonus effects are genuinely valuable, i like how that makes every character feel different based on arts options too

yeah playing on hard theyre sooooo useful. Kalla's especially- 50 avd/5speed/2 move is CRAZY especially for how cheap it is post reduction. i did the same thing with combat arts as you did with blessings unless it killed and then part 2 was like no dude Use Fucking Combat Arts durability is CHEAP

i did not have one at all except recruiting the one dude right at the end of theodora's path and never used him, and then he auto-lvled to party level bc that army actions CRAZY, and he has. a WEIRD amount of bulk esp post charge. So he would just yeet himself into traffic and draw fire lol

yeah it made some of the maps feel kinda like 'the square block goes in the square hole!' before i have the chance to figure it out. i like the alexandra fight a lot for comparison- tells you the gimmick, says kill the priests, and then complicates that when she rushes down the middle after 2 die

yeahhhhhh playing as theodora made them way more managable mainly because gambits hit every tile to crack shields with no oppening for a crackback, which is soooo useful. charioteer staggering blow insanely useful for the same reason lol

oh yeah i think both of those are really fun, mid is maybe too harsh tbh. they just can be a little gimmick heavy sometimes on top of being small and then the dialogue yells what the answer to the gimmick is right away, which is fine but i like the way enemies give texture in part two SO much more

after being a little mid on most of the maps in the first 12 chapters im SO happy with the six part 2 chapters, theyre all great and dynamic in cool ways, they make you actually use terrain, the large enemies and 2 health bar enemies force you to be proactive, its great
