“Inical, Initeocal in Huitzilopochtli” The House and Temple of Huitzilopochtli - Commissioned by Trey the Explainer. This is my interpretation of the sanctuary of Huitzilopochtli, one of two magnificent chapels that once crowned the Great Temple of Mexico-Tenochtitlan. 🧵⬇️

Well, with Mesoamerican history and mythology community taking shape on BlueSky, I think its time to share old studies of Mexica's weapons. #Aztecs #Mexico #History #Art

A sheet of Mexican "swords", the macuahuitls.

A sheet of Mexican assorted ranged weapons (atlatls, darts, arrow and bows) and knifes.

A sheet of Mexican pikes, clubs and axes.

Hello new followers! Here's a Tezcatlipoca that I drew once. He is casting a spell using the forearm of a Mocihuaquetzqui (a woman who has died in childbirth).

So, Dream Rider is a comic co-written with @reytonatiuh.bsky.social and drawn by me. It is set in a fictional futuristic world. We began fleshing out the story shortly before the pandemic and have been developing it since then. It has a large cast of characters and rich lore to explore.

Let's dive into Dream Rider...

Graphic novel cover of Dream Rider. A girl riding a large mythological dog in a dark place at the top. A futuristic street scene with buildings sporting pointy rooftops inspired by West Mexican shaft tomb cultures. In the street scene a man rides a monocylce with a plumed serpent design aesthetic.

An illustration of the Sun, Tonatiuh and his Cihuateteo, standing over the defeated Tzitzimime - ominous, powerful goddesses who seek to attack the Sun and cause cosmic instability.

An illustration I made depicting the legend of how Quetzalcoatl and his precious twin Xolotl pilfer the bones of humanity from the Lord of the Dead in Mictlan, to bring humanity back to life.
