Captured this pic on the first preseason game ever for the Valkyries (it was against the Sparks). It was too good not to take.

I feel for Lish. I hurt my right hand (I am right-handed) deflecting a pass when I was 12. It hurt so much I was forced to write with my left hand for a few weeks. I have a crooked ring finger on my right hand. I don’t feel pain and I can move it normally, though.

Burrell was chosen to play in Unrivaled, a 3x3 winter league founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart designed to keep WNBA players domestically during the offseason. She averaged 8.4 points and 2.7 rebounds her first season, which took place in early 2025, and was dubbed by many as the player to watch in the upcoming WNBA season.

"Which is funny," Burrell said about being chosen in Unrivaled and mentioned as the player to watch. "When I got announced for that team the first year, I got so much hate. And there were so many comments of, 'I thought we were picking the best of the best in this league.' And it was just all these negative comments of people that didn't think I deserved to be in that league. So it just really is special to me to be able to show, like, motherfucker, I deserve to be here. And I've been deserved to be there as soon as I got the call for it. I'm also just kind of proving those people wrong as well. Alongside of me just doing it for myself, it's also nice to show this is what I'm capable of."

Burrell improved on those numbers in her second year in Unrivaled with averages of 12.6 points and 4.2 rebounds. Once again, she was mentioned by many as the player to look out for in the 2026 WNBA season. The league was bringing the best out of her.
