CEO Dan Clancy says Twitch now uses AI to identify streamers that may not match a brand, since it now transcribes all streams for brand safety. It won't show ads on channels or content the AI believes don't match what the advertiser is trying to achieve.

I want to see more streamers with the "gen AI disabled" badge! After turning off "Training for Generative AI" in your settings, go to safebadge.ori.mx and confirm you are safe from gen AI training (requires Twitch authentication - alternatively put AIOptedOut or NoGenAI in your stream tags/title).

Twitch following list with streamer names blurred out apart from the streamers who have a green "gen AI disabled" badge, that indicates they have turned off generative AI training in their Twitch settings:

The streaming platform Twitch announced that Amazon is using Twitch users’ personal data to train AI models. Users who do not want Amazon to use their streams, images and other personal data can now opt out from this feature. The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP), the Dutch data protection authority, is urging people to do so.

Twitch is an online video streaming platform and a subsidiary of Amazon. People mainly use it to live-stream the video games they are playing, whilst being on camera themselves as well. Other people can watch and chat with each other. The AP is concerned about Amazon using user data to train AI models.

Twitch isn't sure whether Amazon has used Twitch creator VODs prior to today to train its AI models. The opt-out will apply to your previous and future content, so it will not be used to train future models.

Twitch has updated the Monetized Streamer Agreement to include new language on how it shares user data with Advertisers.

3. Advertising-Related Data Sharing.
To offer and facilitate monetization opportunities and tools (“Program Tools”) under this Agreement, including running Advertisements on your Twitch Channel, Twitch may share personal information delineated below with our parent company, Amazon.com, Inc. and its subsidiaries (collectively “Amazon”), with brands or other third parties who are seeking the advertising services of Twitch Channels (“Advertisers”), and with our service providers:

(a) public information distributed through and about your Channel, including your Channel name, bio, and information your viewers can see;

(b) information about the content of your stream, including stream categories, and content tags; and

(c) information about your audience reach, including your principle language(s) streamed, hours broadcast, and aggregated audience size by country.

By accepting this Agreement, you are agreeing to the data sharing with Amazon, Advertisers, and service providers that is detailed in this Section. If you would like to withdraw your consent, then you must terminate this Agreement and offboard from the Program. You may still maintain your Twitch Channel and livestream, but you may not participate in this Program. If you choose to continue using a non-monetized Twitch account, please note that some data sharing with Amazon, Advertisers, and service providers may still occur in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
