🛸🛸🛸 🦖🦕🦖 I missed #ScreenshotSaturday because I ended up going down a rabbit hole with the resident conspiracy theorist Stegosaurus. A meteor that's going to turn dinosaurs into birds, and mice into men? You keep your tinfoil hat Stego, I'm ok. #indiedev #gamedev #godot #lowpoly #dinosaurs

The entrance to the Stegosaurus cave - the aliens are watching. Don't ring the doorbell.

A stegosaurus in a tinfoil hat, inside a small cave office with a conspiracy board at the back - meteors, dinosaurs, birds, aliens.

👁️👁️ I had a problem with my dinosaur models. None of them had eyes! I didn't want to go back into every one and paint the eyes on manually, so why not write a script to do it for me? Oh man turns out there's a very good reason not to write a script for that. #indiedev #gamedev #godot #lowpoly

🗿💡 Every adventure game legally requires one light-beam #puzzle, so here is ours. Rotate the stone obelisks to guide the beam through the island and hit the target. Zero tutorial text, just emoji dialogue and a satisfying *clunk* when the angles connect. #indiedev #gamedev #godot #lowpoly

🦖🥊☄️ Rex has boxing gloves and a meteor problem. Building trailer shots this #ScreenshotSaturday, making sure everything is in place for the Steam page launch (check back soon). Looking forward to signing off every post with "wishlist now!" #indiedev #gamedev #godot #lowpoly #dinosaurs

T. rex wearing big red boxing gloves squaring up against the meteor, ready to punch it back out of the atmosphere to save the island. A dialogue box telling the player it's safe to punch appears at the bottom of the screen.

☄️🦖🏝️ Spell 1: 1x ⭐, 1x 💎, 1x 🌻 ➡️ Bonks the wizard with a tiny pebble (humiliating). Spell 2: 3x ⭐, 3x 💎, 3x 🌻 ➡️ Accidentally summons an extinction-level meteor. Hopefully everything doesn't escalate as quickly in this quirky island adventure. (They do). #gamedev #godot #lowpoly #dinosaurs

A tiny pebble meteor hitting the dinosaur wizard on the head after completing the magic meteor summoning spell. Very embarrassing.

The giant extinction level meteor summoned after the second spell. If we get through this we better not try that spell again... (foreshadowing)

☄️🦖🏝️ I was really excited to do a first person game. Why? Didn't think I'd need a player model. Capsules baby! ... Except Capsules cast a capsule-shaped shadow, and not having feet felt really weird. So now you play as a headless T. rex... with a shadow and feet. #gamedev #godot #lowpoly #dinosaurs

Image of a floating capsule shadow on the beach. This is the player character. It is not good. It looks sad and lonely. Disconnected from the world and everyone in it.

First person view of an orange T. rex looking down, seeing its stomach, claws, and feet, with a proud T. rex shadow looking elegant against the sandy beach. This is a player character. A player that belongs in the world. A player with purpose. With potential. All hail the T. rex.

☄️🦖🏝️ Hello #ScreenshotSaturday, can you figure out what this Compsognathus needs? If you guessed "He keeps getting trodden on by the bigger dinosaurs so needs a sunflower and a shell to make a high vis vest" then you're in a good place for this game! #gamedev #godot #lowpoly #dinosaurs

An image of the Compsognathus with a dialogue box that implies he keeps getting stepped on, so would love a high-vis vest. To make it, he needs a sunflower, and a shell.

☄️🦖🏝️ In our game, there’s zero written text. Every dinosaur speaks in pure cave-painting... emojis? The wizard wants some weird ingredients. STARfish, SUNflower... DIEamond? Sure hope helping him doesn't have any unintended consequences! 🧙‍♂️ ➡️ ⭐x3 + 💎x3 + 🌻x3 = ☄️ #gamedev #godot #lowpoly #dinosaurs

☄️🦖🏝️ I kept missing #ScreenshotSaturday so there's no carefully crafted "look how things are progressing over time oh wow" narrative in my posts, which is... about to be rectified! I'm still working, check out the before and after here! More to come, stay tuned! #godot #gamedev #lowpoly #dinosaurs

The game before - flat grass, no beach, a couple of props

A much more impressive island with rocks and trees and grass and flowers and a beach and so much cool stuff. It looks much, much cooler than before

New game again. New month. 🫠 ☄️🦖🏝️ This one's called "I Summoned a Meteor and All I Got Was This Lousy Extinction". You summon a meteor, then have to make your way off the dinosaur island before it lands. Nobody speaks a word - everyone communicates in cave paintings (emoji). #gamedev #godot #lowpoly

Hey #ScreenshotSaturday. Still working on the visuals in-between new mechanics. We've got a new dig site (Dirt Cheap - it's a pun!), the prep room and museum have had face lifts, and I've started the concept for prestige research (digging). Big week! #godot #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #pixelart

The Dirt Cheap dig site, with a dirt dig site front and center, new orange stamina bar, and an autumnal scene

The museum screen in Deep Time, showing multi-coloured dinosaurs, two boxed artefacts, and a Tyrannosaurus Rex that really isn't put together very well

What's up #ScreenshotSaturday. I got approved as a Steamworks partner yesterday - seeing my beta Steam page for the first time is the coolest! I'm making my screenshots look more appealing - what do you think? Seeing them side by side, I still need to fix that button! ⛏️🦖 #gamedev #indiegame

The proof of concept dig site which hides all the artefacts underneath. It's a bit plain - a single colour for the dig site, overlapping shadows on the top and bottom bars, and a boring default Godot button.

A much improved next iteration of the dig site. The dig site itself gets multiple colours that makes it look like sand being swept in the wind. There are small creatures like butterflies and bees around the area. The outside of the dig site is much improved decoration wise, with a dirt area, grass, flowers, and trees. The Deep Time Institute museum is also visible in a raised area to the right. The dig site is mid-dig, with a T. rex skull fully excavated and the tail section mostly uncovered. The Dig site is labeled with the sign "The Crater". A stamina bar gets across the mechanic of stamina for digging. But there's still that ugly default Godot button.

Hey hey #ScreenshotSaturday - another month, another new game project! This is Deep Time, an Idler / Clicker game where future dinosaurs dig up incredibly valuable artefacts from the ancient Anthropocene era (that's us!) Here's the first valuable artefact you find! #gamedev #godot #indiegame

Early screenshot of the museum in Deep Time, showcasing the description for the Vessel of Paternal Hierarchy - "This ceremonial chalice suggests a rigid, competitive caste system within the ancient domestic unit. Scholars believe that through a series of physical trials, a single male was elected to the rank of "Number One." The vessel was likely used to consume a bitter, bean-based stimulant, fueling the "Dad" for his ritualistic duties: lawn maintenance and thermostat protection."

Finished my first ever 3D character model for Noirassic Investigations. I'm really proud of it and myself but I feel like it's missing something in the "not having dead eyes and no soul" department. Any tips from more talented people? #gamedev #godot #indiegame #lowpoly #3dart #blender

New year, new game! It might even get released this time! I let my mind wander and now I've published a book? 🦖📙 I thought it would be cool if Rex could dig up ancient tomes to put in a museum. And I thought it would be cool for the books to be real. Then it was hard to write so I wrote something else. And now I'm an author. rexremix.games/books/dinosa...

Accidentally took a month off and don't have anything super exciting to show off this #ScreenshotSaturday, but I do have the first pass of statistics working now. The UI at the bottom is a little cramped so I'm thinking of putting it in a book higher up or something. #gamedev #godot #indiegame

Rex fishing up a Chub. We know it's a Chub because there's a handy little statistics panel at the bottom that shows all the details of the fish we've caught and the crops we've harvested.
