Finally got everyone Super Aced (100+ Score) in SRW Y. Kira was absorbing all the score there for a bit LOL

I have quite possibly made THE most important and impulsive purchase in my entire Super Robot Wars collection:

Mazinkaiser SKL is what you get if you take devil side Mazin(Kaiser), give him two pilots from Devilman (code names for Kaido and Magami are Amon6 and Lucifer4, the demons of the two main characters in Devilman) and drop it in the Kanto Hell Zone from Violence Jack. It has heavy ties to Nagai’s work

99% of SRW attack names are either lifted from yelled super robot moves or just literally what the attack/weapon is. There's a few interesting ones out there though, I'm working on a video going over SRW attack name choices.

Walker Gallia's final attack, "ICBM Toss" was named in Super Robot Wars and~ I mean that's just what it is there isn't really any interesting tidbit about it like I had with "God's Judgment" Jiron just catches and throws the thing lmao

To anyone wondering if I'm adding Megas XLR to the mecha anime master list, you bet your sweet ass I am. Apparently there was a 4k remaster that looks great and yes it's worth the 100+ gigs of space

That’s what I liked about the ending. He got his revenge, plain and simple. No deep development about whether or not revenge is good or bad or for what reasons, he just got it and stayed a vagrant lol

Dann of Thursday's final attack, "God's Judgment" was named in Super Robot Wars and is in reference to the name Dann, which in Hebrew means "Judge". It's also meant to be ironic, as the Claw is essentially trying to play "God", and Van is passing down (God's) Judgment onto him.

I am meticulously organizing every mecha anime onto my file server by release year (fansub or otherwise). I also grabbed emulators for each SRW game. The plan is to drop the hammer and marathon every SRW game AND watch every mecha anime in release order, starting with Toei Mazinger Z. Soon™

I bet they gave the God Gundam all new attack animations for this one, I don't think we'll be getting any carry over from T (hopefully) Wing Zero definitely has all new animations though

I created a compilation of all of the CG Super Robot Wars openings in release order, starting with SRW IV Scramble on the PS1, which was both a first for voice acting for the series as well as the CG openings many games would include thereafter youtu.be/wOnzUgd2K7k

So I believe them leaning on the OG via the Dynamic Pro call is intentionally done to connect Mazinkaiser and Getter Robo Arc more than just using the OVA. Tetsuya will likely get Emperor G in this game also, and it too has the blue. Just some interesting details

RevoSKL;SRW/Mecha Anime @revoskl.bsky.social · 23/04/2025

An important detail to keep in mind with this, both OG Mazinkaiser and Mazin Emperor G are Getter Ray related. In PV2, Mazinkaiser was fighting a Kedora, not from Shin Mazinger, but from Ken’s one shot Mazinger manga Relic of Terror that was featured in the last volume of Arc,

I’ve been trying to research this but can never come up with any concrete. I can only assume they were willing to eat whatever licensing cost for doing so, or use agreements changed somewhat recently. DD use was in 2023, so they probably acquired use for both games around the same time

000

RevoSKL;SRW/Mecha Anime @revoskl.bsky.social · 21/04/2025

My two main thoughts for this were them already having used Raideen, therefore Kamiya’s pre-recorded lines, in DD, so use carried over to this game And the Dynamic Pro use being the original SRW incarnation of Mazinkaiser as well as throwing in Mazin Emperor G, but that’s a theory right now
