It was definitely one world by night in the 90s, but sometimes these things disband and then restart.

Mind's Eye Theater was the imprint for the official live action rules from White Wolf. I think the fan organization you're thinking of was called One World by Night.

They do not. They both allow filtering for transgender in general, and Zencare has a separate category non-binary but you can't get more specific than that.

Now I need to go find out if Zencare or the Psychology Today database even let you filter for transfem therapists.

I loved my Vampire cards but didn't know anyone else who played. I was young and couldn't travel on my own to find organized play. So mostly I stuck to Magic. I suspect that did in most of the CCGs of that era.

And usually, in order to stay competitive, you need to keep buying new cards. People are only going to do that for a limited number of games, and only if they can find a community to play with.

CCGs are a tough business model because in order to play, both players need to have their own collections to build decks from (in theory at least: I remember loaning and borrowing decks a lot because people would want to play a game only one of us collected).

A person who needs a computer program to help him read a book that used to be popular with teenagers is employed as a professional writer. Just letting that sink in for a minute.

The Friends are lower than I'd expect but they lumped all 3 denominations of Quaker together. FGC on its own would do better, but it's smaller than FUM so I get it.

An interesting list. Can't quibble with the top 3 in that order. Ranking the next 6 mainline denominations is mostly just a matter of hair splitting. I would have put the UMC lower and the ELCA higher due to historical record, but that's just me.

So soon your 5e game can resemble a GURPS game from the 90s. "I wanted to just run Forgotten Realms but Joe really wanted to play V:tM so he's playing a Gangrel, and Sarah's a Jedi for some reason, and Steve wants to play Batman, but he always wants to play Batman."

But they'll keep doing IP tie-ins because they tend to sell well. And they've got 3rd party companies working on bringing things like Traveler and Vampire: the Masquerade to 5e.

I doubt it will be successful enough to change the overall trajectory. It's pretty clear they want to be all things to all people and this is their attempt to recapture some of the grimdark "every session a tpk" corner of the OSR world.

I don't think every art form is consumed in that way equally. In film, people certainly follow their favorite actors and directors, but only the most strident cinephiles are going to seek out the work of a favorite costume designer or cinematographer.

I read the original article. It's a very sweet story. Also, they acknowledged their feelings for each other after watching an enemies-to-lovers romcom together, which is probably a bit too metatextual to include in the inevitable romcom about them.

“Doctors won’t tell you this, but you don’t need medication for a tapeworm—all you need is the natural power of friction,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said as he dropped to the floor, lifted his legs high, and dragged his ass along the White House carpet during a press conference.

I'm always astounded by people who complain that a game they play in private with their friends has been ruined by some new material. There is nothing stopping them from continuing to run campaigns about defending the good people of Whitetown from the Evil Gay Orcs.

This is the best pitch the Democrats have right now. Next week, I expect fundraising emails titled "it's not what it looks like" and "please, baby, we can change!"

Step 5: blame progressives for not voting for you and reflect on how you can further alienate them in order to attract more of the (again, mostly fictional) anti Trump Republicans.

Step 4: lose

Step 3: when polls continue to show progressives are not sure they will vote for you, insist it doesn't matter because the votes of the largely fictional anti Trump Republicans will make up for any progressives who stay home.

Step 2: insist that progressives will vote for you anyway, even though polls show a sizable number are considering not voting for you.

From Cuomo in New York to Newsom in California, it's nice to see Democrats have taken a hard look at the losses in 2024 and decided to double down on the strategy that got them here.

Brown Medicine doctor deported despite federal court order. What we know.
A court order that would have delayed the deportation of Dr. Rasha Alawieh was issued while her plane was on the tarmac, but it took off anyway.

But I would like to see Democrats do more to acknowledge that free trade hasn't been good for everyone and provide alternate solutions that aren't grounded in xenophobia and isolationism.

I know that all of this is not going to fly as a winning argument in the current climate and Trump placing blanket tariffs on everything isn't going to fix the problem because the damage has been done.

And of course people who crossed the border anyway couldn't always demand better wages or treatment because they had no legal protection.

This depressed wages on both sides of the border because Mexican workers couldn't leave and American manufacturing workers had the threat of outsourcing preventing them from demanding better pay.

NAFTA created a system of free trade for the owners but not for labor. Owners could outsource to Mexico where labor was cheaper, but Mexicans couldn't respond by moving north in search of better wages, at least not legally and in enough numbers to matter.

Here's a political reality that I haven't heard many people reflect on. Trump's xenophobia appeals to people left behind by the free trade economy, but free trade left people behind partly because it didn't relax immigration policy.
