This whole paragraph just called me out specifically. It’s like she was listening when my therapist called me a hypocrite for refusing to ask for help I needed because I didn’t want to be “a burden.” Even Jesus needed help carrying the cross. You are a burden worth carrying. #Lent2025GDMUTHU

Neighbor-love without self-love-showing kindness to others without letting them show kindness back to us—is paradoxically egotistical, because if we think we can love our neighbors without also receiving love or care, we're saying we're like God. God does not need us, but we need love, from God and our neighbors. We also need to be willing to receive that love-for our own benefit, but also to let our neighbors benefit from following the golden commandment. If we don't ever let other people love us, we're depriving them of a chance to fully live into their Christian call to love their neighbors.
