I bought a copy of The Maltese Falcon on Kindle not knowing it bad these God awful AI "illustrations". I have never regretted a 99¢ purchase more than I do now.

The only logical outcome I can predict for this ship is it will be used in a scenario straight out of Metal Wolf Chaos

Reading Blood Meridian bc I wanted to read a western. Remember seeing this quote out of context a few yrs ago and thinking it was profound. Now feeling profoundly stupid for giving any merit to a sadistic pedophile sociopath
"It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge. War is inevitable. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it has been and will be. That way and not some other way." Blood Meridian by Cormack McCarthy

There may be another reason but I HAVE to believe the Dead Ball theme comes from how many lines pass Zoom Zoom stadium + closeness to Hiroshima station

岩国 appreciation from a former resident: - Truly appreciate the accuracy on 岩国城, even in its state of disrepair. - Any future where the Kintaikyo is in this condition is truly a dysoptia. #infrastructure - Good thing I didn't submit for the competition, my design was almost identical 😂
Kintaikyo and Iwakuni Castle (岩国城) in the game Denshattack! The castle has a relatively unique design which is wonderfully recreated here. Image of Kintaikyo in Denshattack! in a sad state of disrepair, but still iconic nonetheless. One of the regional train designs from Denshattack! Featuring the Kintaikyo, Tottori Sand Dunes, and Yanai Goldfish Festival lanterns. 10/10 representation.Screenshot from Denshattack! of a sunflower field.

I recall a famous sunflower field in Yamaguchi Prefecture, but as a former Iwakuni resident I wanted these to be lotus fields.

- Skill ramps nicely and levels are super re-playable - HUGE variety of objectives and paths. I admit I expected levels to be kind of linear, but just like real life, there are many branching tracks and places to exlore - The 'zine system! Not only a great reward but also has real regional facts!
Pause screen from Denshattack!

Thank you UX devs for putting the move pattern next to the Date. Also thank you for putting a ton of info, all while looking cool as hell.

🎶🎶 Tadaima, @denshattack.bsky.social thread. Highlights so far: - Beautiful levels exploding with loving re-creations of local landmarks - Love doing tricks with the analog stick (unintended rhyme), wish more games used them this way - Cyberpunk spirit (see alt text)
Emi's response after finding out their training course is a factory run by the megacorp ruining Japan:

"Why don't we destroy it instead?"

More than just its aesthetic, Jet Set Radio's true legacy is its portrayal of defeating cops and corps with art and attitude. These are the themes we should likewise celebrate in games like Denshattack and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.Fernando's response: "Hahaha! ... Wait, you're serious?"

I must say I also love Emi's revolutionary but kind attitude. Reminds me a lot of Luffy and generally a type of hero we need more of.

i hope this game is how some people learn that 1. tanukis are a real animal and 2. there are tanuki crossing signs.
Picture of a tanuki caution sign in Tanuki: Pon's Summer. At first I thought it was kind of funny/odd to have a sign like this when you ARE a tanuki, but hey, we have pedestrian warning signs too.Picture of a tanuki caution sign in Japan by beatneko on Flickr (don't have my own photo sadly)

sorry devs for doubting your code

I must confess, I've completed every available challenge... except this one. There's just no jump high enough to 360 THEN Drill. Part of me wonders if they're meant to be performed simultaneously, but the game doesn't recognize it.
Challenge #31 in Tanuki: Pon's Summer. Possibly impossible.

Jinbei was definitely my favorite, on the coast next to a seabed access/fishing road and a souvenir shop with every kind of nori product imaginable.

Even Kumamon was there to perform his classic hit "I Love Riding the Kyushu Shinkansen". Ok it's a little more subtle than that but not by much.
Picture of kumamon, a yuru-kyara mascot created to promote the JR Kyushu Shinkansen, now a legend among Japanese mascots. Pictured with him is one of his handlers who later had to pry him off Nami's statue.

I tried to boundary break this roadblock but was defeated. Well played, developers. Also this roadblock reminds me of the road from Onett to Twoson, though I can't choose an exact reason why. Color change? 1st to 2nd level? Roadblock?

- The apparent large variety of mini-games + unique items from each one for the shrine - HATS (in the mini-games + a menu for the future?) - Overall an incredible representation of Japanese culture that reminds me of the 2 years I lived there. (2/3)
Daimon: Any Miyadaiku worth his salt understands how to treat his tree partners with the utmost respect.

Dialogue like this in a video game is reason enough to buy it imo

Finally had time to play @denkiworks.bsky.social Tanuki: Pon's Summer. My highlights are: - Fun movement with depth - Map markers vice arrows = joy of finding your own route - Contextual music - Some words and phrases still in Japanese - Representing yakitori with the best kind (葱間) (1/3)
Screenshot of Takuni: Pon's Summer showing the yakitori restaurant with a large model of negima (chicken and scallion skewer) on top.
