Got my copy of #TheLongLivedKing #TheOwlHouse graphic novel, set after the final season. Only Dana Terrace would have the snails to expand a kids TV show to discuss the inevitability of death. Good read if you want more of the boiling isles, though obviously it is a heavy topic.

I got accused of oversharing by talking about my TTRPG campaigns and the things I want to do for Halloween. In my defence, if they didn’t want all that information they shouldn’t have started it by asking if I have a Tesco Clubcard.

“OMG Brencis is so evil” the Dawnwalker game says as I chow down on my thousandth innocent villager trying to level up my vampire skill tree.

So…teleporting right when you have one of those Anachora jumpscare cutscenes in Dawnwalker can…er…have interesting results for your view… So glad I had happened to save just before it happened.

Did I just find a Titanic reference in Dawnwalker?

Well…’The Last House’ on Netflix is…er…certainly a film… It feels like someone had a good premise and then put it through an AI prompt to generate the rest of the script.

Me watching ‘Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital’ (Another found footage horror): “Huh. It’s funny how this has an almost identical plot to ‘Gonjian: Haunted Asylum…” Credits roll up: “Based on Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum” “…Ah, that would explain it…”

Dawnwalker first playthrough complete. Ultimately really didn’t need to worry about the time, aside from side stuff I achieved everything I wanted. Some interesting lore, will be curious to see what future games have.

First spooky season build up film: Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. Korean found footage horror. Pretty fun, nice build up and good performances, if a little by the book.

I’m at the last bit of Dawnwalker and still have 7 days to spare, so I’m a little happier with the time system. Ironically the story bit that had me annoyed by it (Curious windows in the town) turned out to be weak outside of the one I’d tried first. Still wish levelling didn’t use it though.

Currently not a fan of The blood of Dawnwalker’s time mechanic. I’ve already lost 3/30 days and I have barely done anything. Feels like this is a “You’ll enjoy it more on your second playthrough” when you can focus on builds game. I’d be a lot happier if levelling up wasn’t also time based.

110

Paul Crowther @revenantcrow.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

Me playing Blood of the Dawnwalker: “Ah yeah! Vampire action time!” Game proceeds to open with an all too real and all too familiar example of dealing with a family member with a severe mental health issue.

Just finished ‘The Whisper Man’. It poses an interesting conundrum: Are murder mysteries better when you can guess all the twists early on or is it better if they catch you off guard? Cos I guessed every reveal in like 20 minutes in and I genuinely can’t decide if that’s good or bad.

People are unhappy the Fable campaign “Only” takes about 20 hours, but I have so many unfinished games in my library where I got bored after things dragged on. Sinking City 2 took me about 9 hours and honestly that was an ideal length. If it’s compelling a campaign is fine to be brief.

Didn’t realised we lost Peter Cullen as well this week. Never got to meet him during Transformers Universe but he always put in a great performance. He also did the sounds for the Predator in the first movie and knackered his throat in the process.

Sad news that Tim Curry has passed. He was one of the greatest villainous actors with truly memorable characters and he was THE voice actor if you wanted a great bad guy. He’ll always be my Pennywise and my Lord of Darkness.

Two playthroughs of #TheSinkingCity2 complete (Wanted as many achievements as I could be bothered with). It’s relatively short and the story is more linear than the first one but I really do appreciate them letting you turn on invincibility without losing achievements.

Went to MCM Birmingham yesterday. I’m not saying the layout was badly organised but every TikTok I’ve seen from the event had been artists trying to explain that there’s are 3 halls not 2. I bought more weird dice, a book, undead tea and DnD inspired soaps and smells like the sensible person I am.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynched main story now finished. I’m happy they got rid of the modern day sections but it does mean the ending is a bit…Meh. Still, very nicely done remaster, wonder if they’ll do others (Though I’d probably only car about Syndicate).

Stuck with a cold during a heatwave (I am that special) so watching films propped up near the air con unit. Today’s film: The Devil’s Mouth, where the characters make all the dumb decisions and you start cheering on the shark. An OK watch but nothing you haven’t seen before and better.
