RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 8hBeauty sleep before he comes to church tomorrow afternoon for the annual pet blessing. Goodnight Bluesky. May you all sleep as peacefully, knowing yourselves to be as deeply loved. #DailyChester 626415
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 8hHalf that bag was filled with things for him. Of course that means 100% of the bag was not for him, and yes…that is a problem. 150
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 10hYes I know that, intellectually. I also have years and years of disordered eating and body dysmorphia to work against. 150
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 15hThe sad thing is, she could be talking about … I was going to say “dozens of men” …but let’s face it, we’re talking hundreds. 0735

RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 22hYes that point has been made many times - and I totally agree. I think the Pope is specifically reacting to Tennessee’s “devoutly Christian” governor refusing to commute Pike’s death sentence. 050
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 22hAlso it’s the pleasure and satisfaction so many people seem to take in it. 160
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 22hWhat I don’t understand is keeping someone on death row for 30 years, in constant fear they’re going to die, yet leaving them year after year…and then finally one day when one thinks it’s never going to happen - you’re told “tomorrow at 10am” - it’s inhumane 260

Reposted by RevDanielRex Huppke @rexhuppke.bsky.social · 02/10/2026As we learn more about Christa Pike’s condition and the madness of the botched execution, I’m re-sharing yesterday’s column. Abolish the death penalty. www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...usatoday.comChrista Pike's botched execution is a moral stain on America | OpinionI understand the shock over Tennessee's botched execution of convicted murderer Christa Pike. But it never should have happened in the first place. 918137
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Pope Leo is being called “the anti-MAGA” Pope. While he is no fan of Trump or his administration I don’t think he’s anti-MAGA so much as just “pro Gospel”. That MAGA and the teachings of Jesus are completely contradictory should be obvious to anyone with even a cursory familiarly with the Gospel. 716513
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 02/10/20262/ Treating killers in the same inhumane way they treated their victims makes us no better. It’s especially hypocritical when it’s “devout Christians” demanding someone’s death or refusing to commute a death sentence. 1653
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 02/10/2026As Pope Leo has pointed out, those who are against abortion but in favour of the death penalty cannot call themselves “pro-life”. There is no justifying or excusing what Christa Pike did but the botched execution shows exactly why the death penalty needs to be abolished. /1 312312

RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I doubt it was a “spoof of religion” generally. Although Schultz’s own views changed from deeply religious to “humanist secularism” at the time these cartoons were made he was quite deeply evangelical. He has said that what he was highlighting was the tenacity of faith in the face of scepticism. 030

RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Yes! One Christmas Eve, I processed into the centre of the aisle Said "Lights please", pulled out a blue blanket and in a Linus-voice (not difficult as I still sound like a pre-pubescent treble), told the story, walked ito the pulpit and said "That's the meaning of Christmas, Charlie Brown". 1200
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I have often wondered if it enrages Evangelicals that Linus is standing on a stage, proclaiming the nativity of Christ as "the real meaning of Christmas" when two months earlier he was waiting in a pumpkin patch for his great Halloween deity to appear. 918017
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I agree, but to be fair the article (and my post) wasn't calling on the rapists to "repent "(and therefore be absolved) but calling on men generally to change their ways of accepting and even supporting misogyny in the attitudes, words and behaviours of both themselves and other men. 140

RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The irony, as @brcremer.bsky.social points out in a Substack article is that this bears more resemblance to the atheist totalitarian regime of the former Soviet Union than it does to anything “western and democratic”.benjamin-cremer.kit.comPete Hegseth Announces New Office of Religious Affairs. 1143
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 01/10/2026It’s time for men (and the society forming them) to wake up….or as I have consistently been urged to do DMs from Christian fundamentalists: REPENTbaptistnews.comDear men, it is time to wake the hell upAll this is horrible, but there’s one fact about this case that ought to keep you awake at night worried about the future of the world: 926865
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 01/10/2026As a Christian, I certainly wouldn’t want that. I imagine that Christian Nationalists DO want to dictate what “the faith” entails and who it does and does not include. Certainly as an openly gay, “progressive” Anglican, I doubt they’d even consider me a Christian. 1160
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 01/10/20265/ All Americans should vigorously oppose this and all Christians should resist the further weaponization of their faith for political power in the Name of one who called his followers to love their neighbours in self-giving service, not to dominate them in selfish imposition of their beliefs. 1554
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 01/10/20264/ The armed forces rely on a diverse community of all faiths and no faith. Weaponizing the Department of Defense to favour a specific religious ideology undermines cohesion, alienates secular and minority-faith troops, and openly tramples the separation of church and state. 1394
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 01/10/20263/ This isn't an isolated move. It follows a quiet push to slash recognized military religious categories down to 31 and the removal of "atheist" as an individual preference option for service members. This isn't about protecting multi-faith religious freedom—it's Christian nationalism 2322
RevDaniel @revdaniel.bsky.social · 01/10/20262/ The rhetoric surrounding the announcement is raising massive red flags. Hegseth explicitly cited Psalm 33:12 (“blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”) and declared the military is putting on the “full armor of God”. The Pentagon’s job is to defend the Constitution, not a specific theology 1323
