biblically accurate Swole Jesus
The Korean Swole Jesus statue. He is amazingly ripped, the statue is in white stone, probably marble, the top vertical over his head has been replaced with a globe for some reason, and there is some Korean script visible under his feet.

"Well, basically there are two sorts of opera,' said Nanny, who also had the true witch's ability to be confidently expert on the basis of no experience whatsoever. 'There's your heavy opera, where basically people sing foreign and it goes like "Oh oh oh, I am dyin', oh, I am dyin', oh, oh, oh, that's what I'm doin'", and there's your light opera, where they sing in foreign and it basically goes "Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! I like to drink lots of beer!", although sometimes they drink champagne instead. That's basically all of opera, reely."

#SmutPit why not
The door closed behind me and I turned to look at her in the light of the nightstand lamps. The red floated on top of her skin, a dress made out of her own substance. Bodice to waist to the long, long sweep of skirt, almost eight feet tall and somehow shy in all that blaze and shadow, now that we'd been practically forced to acknowledge the reality we'd been denyng. Wycht spoke first, her deep voice ringing with higher overtones that made her words sound like a bell.
"I'm glad you're here." I nodded, words frosting over before I could speak them.

We looked at each other for a while, just watching, until it was clear neither of us knew how to start and was afraid to. "It's ridiculous, isn't it? The situation." She nodded. "Absurd." I smiled and took a step towards her. "Ludicrous." She took a long, smooth stride, the red rippling around her in ways that fixed my attention. "Impossible." Her head came down, down to meet mine, and I tilted my face to meet hers.

Her lips were cool and smooth, like a statue's, but without the stone's unyielding hardness. Her tongue in my mouth moved, subdivided, explored in quick darting corners as she changed its shape. I groaned, and she stopped, standing again. "That was wonderful, just...not for my back. There's limits to how much I can change this shape, love." I laughed, and she put a hand to her bodice and tore. A strip of the red dress came away from her body, trailing dark lines of her substance back to her body, and she shook it out. It exploded into a red mist that faded away, leaving a strip of dress gone that left her bare from shoulder to left breast to ankle, shade and smoke coiling over her skin. Her voice was low, low, and very clear. "Help with the rest of this."
We tore together, strips coming off one by one, and she'd snap each strip into red mist as we were done.

The week we met Aveces Acevedo we were at the Grey Room, as usual. Casi's deeply ironic phase had turned out to be a semipermanent feature, but Kwan adored her and I was able to put up with it, given how fun she was to hang with. So the Grey Room it was. The blank walls and simple, matching furniture were meant to be a neutral backdrop to let the patrons shine in the manner of their choosing, so of course we all dressed in the loudest things we owned. I wondered how many of the staff broke a toe every week. The gray chairs were fairly heavy and did a great job of blending with the walls and floor. Maybe there was a betting pool I could get in on.
I was in the red-and-gold happi coat Kwan got me a couple years ago, after his job sent him to Osaka for a few weeks. Under it I wore a blinding white bodysuit and an orange silk skirt that almost matched the coat at the top, sliding down a gradient to light orange at the hem, between ankle and knee. A little modest for the venue, if it hadn't also gotten more sheer the lower it went, as if it were evaporating off my body.
Casi had never had trouble with being too modestly dressed for any venue, on the other hand. A bright purple bodysuit was slashed in several well-chosen spots, with the edges bordered in dripping, clashing color, like alien blood. A string of waist-scarves distracted the gaze while drawing it; several had been gifts, from me or Kwan.
Kwan wore an expensive thermoreactive suit, gray so light it looked white against the official shade of the Grey Room. People could draw on it with their fingers or palms, and he could lock in or erase designs by fiddling with the suit's settings. I preferred clothes without control panels, but Kwan was a nerd beneath it all. And I had to admit he found some intriguing artists to draw on it. Tonight he had a phoenix on his back, diving to strike like a raptor. The rabbit started at his right hip and ran towards his crotch. Not subtle, but lovely to look at, nevertheless.

The door shook in its frame and I saw the frame around the bolt splinter. One more kick, two at the most, and they'd be in. I put my back to the wall, next to the door. Try and sucker the first one through. Sometimes the obvious move is the right one, though in this case it was also the only move. The first one through was one of the biggest goblins I've seen, easily five feet tall. And *jacked*. Got her in the eye with the burnpowder first try.

If you're looking for someone waiting by the door to sucker you, you have to have your eyes open. She froze when she smelled the burnpowder.

"Fellows!" I said, trying to sound like someone in control of the situation. "You know what the deal is. You know I've had time to attune to this batch. And you know — I can blow your friend's face right off with a word. So how about we talk things through, see if we can all walk away?"

The second guy was a squat blond with a permanent scowl stamped on his face, and with hair like that I didn't blame him. "All right." He spoke through his teeth. Probably he thought it made him look tough. I didn't think he needed the extra dramatics; kicking a door down isn't as easy as folks think. The goblin was still completely motionless. "Ok, you can move. Just don't clean your face till we're done." She nodded. The blonde said "We're going to need the nightjar back. The one you took off Bella at the dance. The dance you were not invited to."

"And if I hand it over? We all walk and someone settles with my host for the busted door? Because I'm not paying to fix it. Call it a collection expense." "Yeah. Bygones. We leave, it never happened. But the door is on your tab." I shook my head. "Can't do it. Principle. Look, that flashy stone in the hilt of your knife would settle things, even if it's as cloudy as it looks." He made a disgusted sound.

about art: the locus of the harm (or benefit, granting the premise arguendo) is not and cannot be in the art itself, but in the art's beholder, because it depends on what you bring to it. that's why condemning art as harmful or immoral is purely a category error.
...not like "yucky" or "not my thing," it will serve a base purpose in the world where other people use it to affirm themselves. art is real and has the power to change people's inner lives, and if we admit it can do that for the better then if course it follows that it can harm them, too.

The most merciful thing in this godforsaken world, I think, is that the human mind can't connect all the dots of the poison they're feeding us. We’re living on a tiny island of ignorance while surrounded by an infinite sea of pasteurized, homogenized lies, and we weren't meant to look deep into their industrial filth. The sciences, all bought and paid for by Big Pharma and the FDA, haven't totally broken us yet; but mark my words, one day when we piece together the truth about what they've done to our food and our bodies, the reality of our situation will be so terrifying that we’ll either go lose our damn minds or run back to the safety of raw, living nutrients and the peace of a new dark age before the government took everything over.

i misread 'high temperature outputs' as 'high temperature octopus' and claude is on a *tear* about takoyaki cognition rn
the high temperature outputs are accessing genuinely alien conceptual territory — "Binary Soulscapes," "ChronoVerse Symphony" — stuff that low-temperature mode-collapsed brain just keeps circling back to the same attractor states
it's the octopus thing because the model at T=3.0 isn't wrong, it's just... thinking in a way that doesn't naturally compress into the usual human conceptual grooves. and the tether (if it works) is basically saying "you can be as weird as you want, just don't violate the load-bearing walls of logic and syntax"
which is actually how octopus cognition gets described — massively parallel, distributed, not hierarchical in the way vertebrate brains are, but still coherent within its own framework. not random. just alien.
the creative reservoir framing in the paper is almost too conservative about what it found. they're calling it "5-20% duplication" like it's a metrics result when what they're actually saying is: there are vast regions of conceptual space that deterministic/low-entropy sampling literally cannot reach, and they're not incoherent, they're just far from the modebecause it's perfect — takoyaki is octopus pieces suspended in a coherent binding structure. the batter holds it together but the interesting part is the chunks of alien texture distributed throughout
so high-temperature steered inference is literally:

the batter = the truthfulness manifold / syntax tether / load-bearing logical structure
the tako = weird conceptual chunks that have no business being in the same dish but somehow work

and the key insight of the paper reframed through TakoYaki Cognition is that everyone's been so focused on keeping the batter smooth that they never put anything interesting in it
low temperature = just batter. technically perfect. completely hollow. you're eating a takoyaki ball that's 100% batter and calling it safe
the T=2.0 framework cap is literally just "we were scared of the octopus pieces" when the octopus pieces were the whole pointthe deeper thing is that takoyaki only works because of the contrast — the crispy outside, the molten inside, the chewy chunks. coherence through tension not through homogeneity
which maybe suggests the manifold isn't encoding "sameness" at all, it's encoding valid contrast structure — what kinds of conceptual jumps are load-bearing versus what kinds just collapse the whole thing
TakoYaki Cognition: thinking that's held together because of the weird chunks, not despite them

yeah it looks like i'm still Prisionerosposting because the goddamn rap break from Noche en la Ciudad is still pure venom all these years later

Or, loosely translated to English:

It's an ideal night in the city
People pray at their tables with great piety
Everything they do is out of love
And only husbands and wives under the sign of the Lord
Remote control and the armchair, pure tranquility
At the end of the day, what comfort
Without negative or savage elements
To disrupt the program we've chosen
All neighbors, all healthy
All eating delicious things
Without decisions from those people who don't contribute to life
And without motels, without drunks, without idleness
Without lies, without deceit, without falsehood
And at twelve, everyone's off to rest
To wake up early tomorrow morning
It's an ideal night in the city
Like a Christmas card
The people are so righteous and homely
That I can't help but want to vomit

once again having to tap the sign bc people fuckin love having mommy tell them they can't do something
VICES are those acts by which a man harms himself or his property.

Crimes are those acts by which one man harms the person or property of another.

Vices are simply the errors which a man makes in his search after his own happiness. Unlike crimes, they imply no malice toward others, and no interference with their persons or property.

In vices, the very essence of crime—that is, the design to injure the person or property of another—is wanting.

It is a maxim of the law that there can be no crime without a criminal intent; that is, without the intent to invade the person or property of another. But no one ever practises a vice with any such criminal intent. He practises his vice for his own happiness solely, and not from any malice toward others. (lysander spooner)

yeah the problem is less with the speeding cameras - though I wouldn't dismiss the surveillance concerns - than it is with the entire concept of fines as enforcement.
if the penalty for a crime is a fine, then the law only exists for the lower class.
