RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Flea Market Friday - saw a Star Trek TNG themed CRT mask thing. The funny part is on the back is an ad to collect all the various desk accessories to just completely nerd out your computer desk. :) Didn't ask price on the mask, just fun to see. 142
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 29/09/2026On the subject of my card collections, Dinosaurs Attack is probably my favorite. I believe it's meant to be a spoof on the Mars Attacks cards and they did not pull punches on the gory art, lol. The backs have neat themes to tell the story. It's a weird and wacky set to be sure. 100
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 28/09/2026You know, 13 years ago @cinemasssacre.bsky.social made a video on the Tiger handheld games as being the bottom of the barrel gaming but I do think there's one step below that. Topps released a set of Nintendo cards in 1989 with scratch-off game cards... 110
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Flea Market Friday time - saw this pair of iomega external drives. The Apple sticker could be a sign of backups of Macintosh files which was enough to ask, but $20 each with no PSUs, pass. Grabbed four Atari 5200 games, Amidar, & manuals for a total of $10 since I recently picked up a 5200 system. 080
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Little something for Flea Market Friday - This Sony monitor caught my eye this morning due to not recognizing the model name and all the buttons, then on the back it had BNC connectors. Turns out it is a flat panel PVM. Vendor wanted $10, so why not satisfy curiosity? :) ... 1182
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Neat thing to see at the flea today - old Panasonic Toughbook. Sadly screen had something going on, looked like an inner layer peeling up - not sure if delaminating or just another protective layer. No PSU either. Lady wanted $20 then $15, tempting but not sure about that screen. 060
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Managed to find a weekend community sale and for better or worse, decided to take this Atari 5200 home for $5. It’s in rough shape but at least the later model with the power plug on the console. Came with Q*bert as well. 050
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Flea Market Friday time - still not seeing much lately. Passed on some laptops today. One was an IBM T43, good laptop but $20 with no psu - meh. The other was a Vista era Compaq (that I have one of) and this HP, again no psu with either. Didn't ask prices... 130
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Flea Market Friday time - just one pickup today. Found this odd Maxis PC title "Unnatural Selection" for $3. I don't think I've typically seen games list a 386 as starting specs. It'll be fun to check out. The Rebel Assault II was also $3 but no game, just box and some papers. 141
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Found a little something for Flea Market Friday - this MSI socket 939 mainboard was in a bin with a CPU for $5. Digging around some more, I found the CPU box with the cooler and fan still inside for another $3. It'll be fun to put in a case and tinker with :) 261
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Pretty good day at the flea! Spotted this Apple II keyboard, Mac usb keyboard, and Wacom ADB tablet on a table all for $9. Guy also had a Nikon CoolPix 995 for $15, but I have two already. Another table had a sealed MS Publisher for Win95 ($5) but passed on that as well... 130
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 25/07/2026Slim pickings at the flea lately. I did see this R31 Thinkpad for $10. It was missing a hatch cover and no power brick. Decided to pass since I have one. Did pick up the Blade Runner Directors Cut laser disc for $5, though! I have the criterion version but not this version. 192
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Haven’t seen much at the flea market recently. Today, there was a Mac SE at a table. Vendor did have the original keyboard as well, claimed it powered on but at a price of $80, not something I wanted to pick up. 030
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 05/07/2026Saw this thin rack server at a thrift store for a whole $5. So tempted just to tinker with it but held strong, lol. I was able to boot it there - had an AMD Opteron 170 dual core CPU, 2 GB of DDR400 RAM, a CD ROM, four drive bays (SATA), and four PCI slots. 080
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 04/07/2026Haven’t seen much lately but did spot this cool little Olympus branded photo printer in box. So tempting but $25 is just too much, especially unknown if working. Still, loved the color and cube shape. 050
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 19/06/2026I did have one pickup today - guy had a stack of PC CD-ROM games/software. It was $5 for all of it and there was just enough interesting/odd things that I grabbed it. No Ultimate Doom disk, sadly... 140
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 19/06/2026Flea Market Friday time! Not many pickups lately but allow me to share some odds and ends, starting with this painting. I have no idea what a Bull Terrier and IBM have to do with each other, maybe there was an old ad with it? Anyway, this was eye catching... 351
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 14/06/2026Saw this at a different flea market today. Macintosh big box Indiana Jones game - had disks and manual for $40. I was told that’s a good price, however I passed as it wasn’t something I really needed (and a have a PC copy anyway). Cool though. 060
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 12/06/2026Scorching day for Flea Market Friday. Saw one interesting item - this Computer City branded RC car was neat with all the other tech brand stickers. Guy wanted $20 for it, which didn't seem bad given it was also working. Didn't need more for the shelves, but cool item! 031
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 06/06/2026Hit the yard sales today and it was mostly nothing of interest, which happens, but one of the later sales had this interesting PC and PC case. Got both for $10. Noticed when taking these pics there’s a label on the one - Pentium Overdrive inside if correct… 3184
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Pretty good day at the VCF East Swapmeet. Didn’t sell out this time, but sold about half or so of the stuff I brought. Foot traffic seemed low-ish and it was challenging with the windy conditions. Had fun though, always fun chatting with people! 2190
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 29/05/2026Flea Market Friday again - interesting finds today! I saw this Power Macintosh 7100/80AV, which is a odd thing to see these days. Guy wanted $60 for it "as-is", but I felt that a bit high with the rusty areas around back. Didn't get it, but neat to see. Also saw this piece of 'art'? ... 140
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 22/05/2026Flea Market Friday time - didn't see much today. This old woodgrain Samsung 13" tv caught my eye. I had either this same model or one very similar as a kid. It had a great picture for NES games at the time. The vendor wanted $120 for it, so that's a pass. 171
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Nice day at the flea market. Saw this MacBook with a bulging battery the lady confidently wanted $50 for, hard pass. Cool Hearoid robot in box (didn’t ask) and a Smith-Corona Typewriter for $5 in case… 171
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 16/05/2026Hit the yard sales today and saw these two Shadow Warrior books. Yes, they made books based off a FPS. Had to get them just to see if it’s Worlds of Power levels of writing. Obligatory photo with my original game box - played so much death match with a buddy back in the day. 000
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 15/05/2026One pickup for Flea Market Friday - saw this gamepad that uses the older gameport style plug for $3. Looked interesting, buttons feel good, comfortable. It's no Gravis, but it'll be interesting to see if it works - especially the turbo and combo buttons. 040
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 13/05/2026Back on May 2nd, I went to Pinfest in Allentown, PA. It's a fun event, lots of free-play machines to enjoy (and buy), custom mods and parts for machines. Here's an album of the photos I took, check it out! photos.app.goo.gl/h19wmoE3xpHG...photos.app.goo.glPinfest Allentown, PA 2026 · Saturday, May 2 📸Shared album · Tap to view! 020
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 10/05/2026Back at the flea this morning, saw this Compaq 5410US tower. The guy also had the original keyboard and speakers that mount on the sides of a CRT. Offered $10 and now I have another project to clean up and test. Lots of brown smoker dust in it but otherwise stock and nice shape. 280
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 09/05/2026Couple things at the flea today - I was half tempted to buy this bootleg disk just because I do find old bootleg stuff funny. You've probably heard of Ridge Racer... but what about Rage Racer? It was marked for Playstation, though can't imagine it'd work on a non-mod one... 140
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Side item spotting from the flea this past weekend - since @actionretro.bsky.social brought it up in a recent video, I do see old typewriters as well. So, in support of people expanding hobbies, have some old typewriter photos from the flea market! :) 030
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 03/05/2026Saw this boxed Star NX-2410 at the flea today. It was used but looked to be in pretty good shape (but unknown if working, naturally) and complete. Very tempting for $12 since it is the nicer cousin to the NX-1000 I had as a kid. Still passed. 030
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 01/05/2026Late Flea Market Friday. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself - but I saw this case with a complete computer inside, needed an Intel cooler anyway and there's a 1 TB WD HDD in there. Guy priced it $15, so I caved and took it. It smelled like an ash tray... 150
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 30/04/2026Proud of this one - The 386 was booting but keyboard wasn't detected (leaky battery on traces). I found the end points of two very thin traces that were broken and added a couple bodge wires (not pretty) to bypass the bad traces - it works! Boots and keyboard responding! 150
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 29/04/2026If I had friends, could set up quite the lan party about now. Been cleaning/testing/setting up all these from that big lot. One Celeron CPU was borked, swapped in a first gen i5 CPU/Board I got at VCF East. Hopefully they’ll find homes at the next Swap Meet (May 30th!) 2100
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 25/04/2026Decided to use the Sony MiniDV camcorder again at VCF East 2026. Plan is to put together another video in glorious 4:3 aspect ratio. I like the 'look'/feel the camcorder creates over just using my phone and it's fun - plus others at the event covered filming in HD/4k. 050
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 24/04/2026Didn't see much today for Flea Market Friday - there was this odd/interesting looking Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 1600 receiver. I did have a little woodgrain on the sides. Didn't ask price. And there was a Rally IV Pong console. 140
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 18/04/2026@vcfederation.bsky.social VCF East is this weekend and as usual, I've already been taking a lot of photos! Want a peek at consignment? RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 17/04/2026Flea Market Friday time. Saw some computers and CRTs - the latter is rare to see. One was very yellowed. Didn’t ask prices but pretty sure the HP is the same one from months ago that has been on FB Marketplace for $60. 040
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 11/04/2026I might be crazy but picked this Sony SnapLab photo printer at the flea today for $15.looking forward to testing it out (fingers crossed it still works). Hey, at least it is smaller than a Kodak kiosk lol. 3151
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 10/04/2026I had to try out the G3 Mac (Pismo) Laptop I picked up just to see what kind of shape it is in. It does chime and boot up buuuut the screen seems to be borked. Handy you can hook up an external VGA display, so I could at least see it working. Still, not bad all things considered. 030
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 10/04/2026As for pickups today - two Mac power bricks plus a random one all for $2, a pair of Nomad MP3 players for $2 with the box, no SM cards sadly, a Fuji MX600-Zoom Smart Media digi-cam for $1, and a pair of Suncom joysticks that work with Apple IIe/c or PCs... 260
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 10/04/2026Flea Market Friday is back and it was an interesting one. Let's start with what I saw - Couple Dell laptops, an older P4 and a less old i5. Guy wanted $20 for both, not bad but the i5 was missing a power adapter and I've already got a Dell P4 like this one (or close enough)... 230
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 05/04/2026Returned to the flea market today - browsed around the same pile of office equipment. Saw a HP LaserJet 4000 N that looked in good shape. Tempting. I did see the same beige box and this time the guy was willing to do $10 - one more to that stack. 280
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 04/04/2026Hit the flea today - saw a few things, starting with this internal Zip drive box that sadly had a Colorado tape drive inside (assume it was switched out with the Zip drive back when new). Guy also had this Visual Basic instructional set. Wanted $5 for both but passed… 150
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 28/03/2026Decent day for the flea market - first thing I saw there was this tower of old desktops. Guy wanted $10 each and to me, they all looked like stock PCs from an office. I must be crazy because I bought all six of them. It’ll be a fun(?) project to clean and test them. 8311
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 14/03/2026Been way too long - not much at the flea still but saw a few things. Guy had an older AppleTV for $10 and another table had this refurbished and sealed Dell H0678 mainboard for $20 (didn’t buy either). I did pick up this iBuyPower case for $10 - mostly empty. 170
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 21/02/2026Been a rough month or so for the flea markets with snow lingering and more on the way. Few vendors today - saw this neat Sony Betacam set. Guy wanted $125 for it but negotiable. He also had sealed tapes. Didn’t get it but neat to see. 060
Reposted by RetroFoxRees @ctrl-alt-rees.com · 30/01/2026New Video: Id Software's 1993 FPS DOOM has a long-standing tradition of being run on all sorts of weird and wonderful devices. But there's one device that's been sorely missing: a multi-million pound industrial cake machine. So I decided to rectify that once and for all... youtu.be/BHSOVnahKjY 1377
RetroFox @retrofox8bit.bsky.social · 30/01/2026No FMF today because there's still 8" of snow on the ground and it's 6F with negative wind chill. Instead, I've been going through old CD-R backups. I used this CAC (College Alarm Clock) in college. Use to wake up to Terry Bogard annihilating the top of building, iykyk :D 140
