If memory serves, there's also middle-endian, that encodes 32-bit numbers by putting the low 16-bits in little endian, and the high 16-bits in big endian. This may have been only one esoteric system though.

The 8-bit games were also not made by Sega themselves. Sonic 1 was outsourced to Ancient Software with the brief to make it as close as possible to the Genesis version. Sega decided this didn't meet the potential of the machine, and subsequent Sonic 8-bit games were made by Aspect Software. 2/2

A couple of fun facts here. Sonic 2 came out on the Sega Master System slightly before it come out on the Genesis/MegaDrive. The Game Gear out almost immediately after, still beating the 16-bit version by a week. 1/2

We have a couple of boxes... you can see them to the right of the picture - they each generate a "TV Channel" (BBC1 and CH4) with a looping ident picture. But if you press the teletext button on the remote, you can access CEEFAX (BBC1) or Chunkytext (C4). Bamboozle is a quiz on the latter 😁
