The moment is finally here, the Xbox 360 turns 20 years old today. Without a shadow of a doubt, one of my favourite games consoles ever. HD, friends list, voice chat, achievements, Live Arcade, Kinect, and an industry defining controller. What a machine. #xbox360

My original 2008 Xbox 360 Elite is back in business. Thermal paste replaced. Disc drive laser replaced and tuned. Disc drive belt replaced. Disc drive greased. Motherboard cleaned. Fans cleaned. Casing washed. A little daunting, but feels so good to have accomplished it 😊

Handheld class of 89-90. Lynx, Game Boy & Game Gear. We all picked a side back in the day, which did you choose? Would you pick differently now? I was a huge Game Boy fan, but I've developed a recent appreciation for the Lynx!

You've just picked up your new Saturn with some absolute classics. You have the video card installed and have grabbed some essential films. Pizza hut has arrived, you have permission to stay up late and there's no school tomorrow. It's 2025 and you're 42 years old. Life's good.

Random game of the day 🎮 Quake. Sega Saturn. 1997 An absolutely phenomenal port of a game that shouldnt exist on the Saturn. Developed by the talented Lobotomy Software. Sure concessions have been made, but it still plays like Quake, especially if used with the 3D controller.

A lot has changed in 7 years. More consoles, more shelves, more tat. Plus an older and taller daughter! But one thing that hasn't changed is our shared love of gaming. Old or new, indie or AAA, my wonderful daughter is there for it all.

So video game collectors, what are some of the more unusual items in your collection? Here are some of mine: Super Mario Barcode Battler cards. Tetris single on vinyl. Nintendo MP3 player. Virtual Boy headphones. #Nintendo

The freedom in Super Mario 64. The scale of Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time. The speed of F-Zero X. The sniper rifle in Goldeneye. The music of Banjo Kazooie. The Battle of Hoth in Shadows of the Empire. ...and the disappointing shortness of Yoshi's Story! Great times. How about you? #N64

I think we can all agree that G1 Transformers were some of the best toys to ever grace our shelves. 6 years from '84 to '90. Good times. Do you still have any of your childhood originals?

Have we seen the last of Star Fox and the team? I hope not, as it remains one of my favourite Nintendo franchises. Macbeth in SF64 is one of the best videogame levels ever conceived! And the Corneria theme from Starwing is a banger lol. #Nintendo #Starfox

1999, what an exciting era of gaming to live through. What are you choosing from these pages? I'm having that N64 Goldeneye bundle for £95! And maybe the bootleg 2600, the Systema TV Boy. In fact I really should add one to the collection now lol.

When did you first go multi platform? Growing up it was very common to only have one console. That's the one your parents had bought you, and that's the one you were sticking to! For me it was 2004. I'd already bought a Gamecube, but decided to get an Xbox for university.

Many people wont appreciate that until 1992 in the UK, there was no legal requirement for electrical equipment to come with a plug. Buying a NES? Great. Comes with 2 pads, a game & zapper... But no plug. Which youll need to wire up yourself. Also, got any fuses? #RETROGAMING

My Nintendo 90s. This sums up everything that was awesome for me in that era. I turned 16 in 1999, had I been a bit older I may have been lured by the coolness that was the Playstation. As it was, I loved being in my Nintendo bubble. How about you?! #retrogaming #Nintendo

13 hours into Atomfall and I'm having a great time. An interesting area to explore with lots of environmental story telling. Enjoy finding the leads to different quests, rather than just following a waypoint. I did crank the difficulty down though lol, not enough time to grind.

Newly scanned from us: an ad from the trade magazine Videogame Advisor (November 1995), which has Sega vainly telling retailers not to support PlayStation, right after the PS1 famously undercut the Sega Saturn Basically the game industry version of "please don't put in the newspaper that I got mad"

An ad comparing the Sega Saturn vs. the PlayStation. All their arguments are about how Sony is new to video games and doesn't understand the business like Sega does, and also the Sega Saturn is more fun. There is conspicuously little mention of the PS1's hardware capabilities and software portfolio.

A fun little gaming memento. These Sega Pirate stickers date from 1993 when Sega sponsored the Williams F1 racing team. These were added to the drivers' rear wing for every race that they won. Suzuka is interesting as it wasn't a race that Williams won, therefore the sticker was never used.

Lynx Fun Fact Mondays. (It's a thing okay?) The Lynx had 3 distinct cartridge designs. First (not pictured) had raised dots on the edge to help removal. When these proved insufficient two tabs were added (left). However these couldn't stack so a new curved design was introduced.

I genuinely lament the death of the gaming magazine. None more so than GamesTM. The perfect balance of easily digestible yet well written reviews and articles. I respected the opinions of the writers a great deal and it shaped my 00's gaming a great deal. It's closure in 2018 was a very sad event

Saying it now, I love the N64. It seems to be the cool console to hate these days. Whether it's the "unusable" controller or "unplayable" games. Whilst nostalgia may play a part in my appreciation of the machine, and it's certainly not flawless, it's still bloody great fun!
