So funny thing! I discovered that price for DMC2 has gone up at the place I usually buy them. I'M SINGLE-HANDEDLY SHIFTING THE MARKET!

So, I have an ongoing bit where I buy a copy of DMC2 every month. I also recently paid off my car and have more disposable income. These two things might not be mutually exclusive...

So I thought about it, and when Capcom inevitably remake Resident Evil 5 to make it fit with the amended canon, they legitimately have to keep the boulder punch. It's literally canonised in RE8. Made the series more "grounded", still have to combo beatdown a giant rock.

You know, I should do a list of all the game @klawaw.bsky.social made me play that I'm actually enamoured with... Starting off, we have Alaric. Your Evil Uncle has become the Demon Lord, and you need to stop him. It's boomer shooter castlevania with a lot of charm and style. Highly rec the demo.

Something I'm becoming acutely more aware of is a lot of people have never played an actually bad game. Games that barely work. Games that are an assault on the senses. Games that miss the mark so badly you can't tell what the mark was. They see 7/10 when they expected 9 and go a bit feral.

0152

ResidentGremlin 💿🟢 @residentgremlin.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

I've been playing Far Far West with friends in the evenings, and it just kind of gets roguelites. Every run is equal parts intense and silly. Weapons and builds inform the jokers you want, but doesn't make any worthless outside very specific setups.

So, I'm staunchly anti-remake and have no love for Nintendo, but even I think the response to the OOT remake is extremely exaggerated by people that will still 100% buy it day 1. We're basically in a Half Life 3 situation; no matter how it came out, it was never living up to such high expectations.

Firstly, god please! Brutal Legend is a very singular that needs to be experienced. Secondly, it needs to NOT be a direct sequel. The first one ended Eddie's story nicely, and there's so much more they can do with the setting. Also, keep the weird RTS parts. It'll be so funny.

Genuinely, one of the biggest power moves you can do as a game dev/publisher is release a demo. Because it shows an incredible amount of pride and faith in what you're putting out there. You're selling the game on how it is in a person's hands, rather than on vibes and curated sizzle reels.

081

ResidentGremlin 💿🟢 @residentgremlin.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

Suggestion to indie devs out there; If your game chill or "cozy" with a dark/horror twist... DON'T ADVERTISE THAT TWIST! OR AT LEAST NOT AS THE PRIMARY SELLING POINT! Allude to it, be coy about it. That's the whole point of the twist! Otherwise it's not a twist! it's just what you sold it as!

While I've mostly moved passed that era of my life, one small amount of gaming elitism I allow myself was that brief, glorious period when the "git gud" crowd of the Soulsborne fan base jumped on Ninja Gaiden 2 Black 'cause game hard, got their asses beat, and complained the game was too hard.

my hot take for gaming today: I think its a very healthy thing for people to move on from the current game that's blown up and are not playing it for millions of hours. they aren't going anywhere, and I think it's important to broaden your horizons and take your time when it comes to games.

One of my favourite character concepts in fiction is the puppeteer (someone that uses puppets/wires to fight), but I'm kinda disappointed that they're almost always lanky or gangly. Give me a puppeteer that's built af and entirely capable of throwing hands themselves. I beg you.

I haven't had a remake rant in a while, so... A line that gets wheeled out more often than should be legal is "This is how the game would have been if they made it now!" Which I despise because; 1) Do you know the devs personally, how tf do you know? 2) it treats dev intent as an afterthought.
