Last Friday, I had the honor of attending a ribbon cutting for the new outdoor Fitness Court Ursinus College! This space, which is located outside of the Floy Lewis Bakes Center, is open for use to both the Ursinus community and public and includes seven movement zones with a variety of workouts.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer that’s diagnosed in the world. We’ve made progress with early detection and treatments, but there’s still a long road ahead. This year, an estimated 382,640 women and 2,670 men will be diagnosed.

We read a proclamation to officially declare Veterans’ Suicide Prevention Week, raised a United States flag and placed 17 dog tags on a Witting Tree to acknowledge the daily number of veterans we lose to suicide each day.

It was an honor to attend the PA House’s historic legislative session at Congress Hall in Philadelphia last Wednesday. During our time, we passed two resolutions commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and 250th anniversary of the Constitution of Pennsylvania.

I’m excited to share some grant news! Over $1.6 million in Local Share Account grants has been awarded to seven projects in our community. This includes Collegeville Borough, Trappe Borough, Lower Providence Township, Upper Providence Township, Historic Trappe and the Montgomery County Coroner.
