Jameson type body from ghost in the Shell. A little box shaped robotic body that is bare bones and cheap. Just enough body for a brain and brain stem and life support to keep it alive and able to operate in the world. Also evidently a fashion and political statement by some people.

Got to see the Nier concert at the orchestra tonight. It was fantastic. They had the original vocalists and everything. Got to see Yoko Taro being a weird little guy as well it was great.

Open Sauce was really fun. Weren't able to fight on second day due to a misunderstanding and a really good battery hit that stopped all the fights and Bot Hockey. Still got to see some really cool hacker tech and make new friends. Weather is great driving back to Seattle as well.

My foamer self saw some of the classic streetcars operating in Porto and me and my friend having a delightful smile over it. Still in active service too, like you can just use it with a monthly pass like the Funicular.

Classic streetcars in Porto Portugal. Still in active service and of note it's clean, well maintained, and curb separated from traffic. And with a modern pantograph.

Before I left to go back to the US, had a drink with my friends of a 25 year old Port. Tasted like fruit and oak and looked really really nice. A bottle like that was 25 euro and is considered pricey. I can believe the claim Portugal has some of the best wine and spirits on Earth.

Riding to the airport on the Alfa Pendular back to Lisbon right now and even second class is nicer than most Amtrak rides that cost 3 times as much and goes slower because it doesn't tilt.

My wifes hands on the Alfa Pendular train. She is playing a steam deck and drinking a Portuguese cider called Somersby.

This also punishes anyone who went to a university in a state that does ACT instead of SAT or test optional. And makes it for a historical thing that has no relevance 4 or 5 years vs use the GRE or other stuff. Not to mention foreign and military academy students.

I did it! I made a 3d printed electromagnet with Protopasta iron filament! So far it pulls as strong as a fridge magnet a 3 amps 3 volts and I'm pretty sure the device would cook itself at this amperage, but I made it work all the same! Now need to refine the model.

Successfully produced a magnetic field. Still needs to get the gauss value and field polarity before I move to the next step

Ran a test with the Protopasta iron filament, and what I expected, 100% Infill .1mm layer height print is much better at being attracted to magnets that standard infill. It pulls hard enough that I could believe I could make an ok stator out of this stuff

From the Western Allied Robot Fights league matches in Redmond last weekend. I ended up not being able to fight due to a transmitter firmware error, but did get to show off the bot's construction method and hangout with friends. See some metal break. Hoping to be able to compete at Olympia

Trying to figure out how to get MechWarrior 5 clans running in Linux and I think I found a regression in Nvidia 560 driver. Vulkan won't load at all. Tried forcing it into D3D11 mode and got this lol. I'm sunk until Nvidia updates the driver.

A weird rendering error when switched to D3D11 mode in proton in Linux. Game is MechWarrior 5 clans.

Some sensors arrived for my new loadcell delta effector project. Full bridge strain gauges. I have no bloody idea if this will even work and the soldering for this alone looks terrifying. It's to be joined to a stainless steel effector assembly I designed If this doesn't work, doing PCB next

New parts for combat robot arrived. Need to print the wubs and other parts to get ready for October fights in Redmond. So many different metals, A500, Chromoly, 5052 aluminum, and 2024 aluminum. Some carbon fiber too. I tried to save money not tapping, depending on ease I may spring for taps

Ive been busy with the Freecad designing my next fighting robot for the West Coast Robotics League fights. Steel armor, dual weapon systems for torque canceling, AR forks, wubs, ELRS radio, the works. Now to get the metal parts made and get less bad at driving.

I got a really cool sensor that will be going into my next printer design. from fooling around with it with a multimeter, I got consistently good signals at low force. Meaning it should be effective for a tap probe. Reprap still going strong in the 3d printing world

Since I've been stuck quarantining for a few days I really like the chin horn blower concept and gives me way more airflow than other designs. For the cooker Thinking of calling it the Balor. Will be probably my best delta effector I've ever designed. Designed in Freecad for my delta printers
