The Hoche, an.. unusual-looking French ship design. It's like a country bar full of drunken line dancing monkeys decided to become naval architects, but preserve the Jack & Coke fueled mindset, all the while caring not a fig for things like "stability", "fluid dynamics", "practicality", or, to be honest, "taste".

After this week, we all need a treat. I offer you the Glasgow Sugar Aristocracy. I'm certain this will end well. Recipe and backstory in Alt text (because you always write a good alt text so everyone can enjoy, don't you - and if not, why don't you?!) #Cocktails #Glasgow #CopingMechanisms
Picture of a cocktail in a fancy glass on a table. It is an unearthly orange color, but not the vivacious orange of a sparkly Aperol spritz. No, this is the rambunctious orange of of that true working class hero, Irn Bru!

Created this evening in response to the horrors of the last week, and in honor of my Glaswegian Nana, who made it through TWO world Wars (working in an aircraft factory during the 1st), the Depression, and (in all honesty) being part of our family.

I call it "The Glasgow Sugar Aristocracy" and it is crafted of Irn Bru and Caribbean spiced rum. The combination gives off a whiff of colonialism but tastes like a victory lap after a pub crawl (or, Saturday morning regret, depending on your experience).

If this, plus a Glaswegian grandmother, doesn't qualify me for an immediate residency and passport, I'm not sure what will... (Not that anyone would want to leave the Good Old USA in these times, of course)

You are welcome. Go forth and drink respon.., who am I kidding, I've been out drinking in Glasgow *. Get pissed!

(* Though the worst I was wrecked while living in Scotland was going out with a bunch of Norwegian oil rig workers in Arbroath. Holy Mother of Moles!
