The OCC alleged that AmEx didn't sufficient AML controls on its credit card accounts, resulting in the bank not reporting up to $13 billion in suspected trade-based money laundering activity over a 10-year span. The Fed also issued an enforcement action.

And I've heard the notifications are going out. But Treasury is unlikely to issue a list of recipients and there are questions about contract terms. An attorney for one of the plaintiffs said that some CDFIs were told they didn't get funding, but were then later told they might.

We don't know how many people are affected by the new round of layoffs, or how many people took a buyout offer that was extended in June. But as the number of banks the OCC oversees gets bigger, the number of people doing so gets smaller again.

During the course of the day, I saw firetrucks from my hometown of New Rochelle and other departments from outside the city fighting the traffic on Second Ave. to get down and help. And a friend who didn't want to fight his way to Jersey City stayed at my place.

A group of coworkers and I hustled off to one of their apartments to watch the towers collapse on TV. They were still standing when I turned around. When I got to the office days later I had several messages from friends and family who knew I worked in a landmark building but forgot which one.

I didn't know about the attack until I saw all my coworkers on the street on Fifth Ave. and 33rd Street and they told me to turn around. This is your reminder that New York is big and it's easy to not notice stuff because of it.

After I voted, I turned north again, up Third Ave. to walk to work at a nonprofit in the Empire State Building. Third Ave. goes north, and it was quiet, so I didn't think much of it.

I'm sure I've told this story before, but I lived on 27th Street and Third Ave. on 9/11. It was a beautiful Tuesday and I went out to vote in a primary. I walked north and was listening to U2's "All that You Can't Leave Behind" on my Discman (look it up kiddos).

That's right near my kid's middle school, and every few weeks he'll just come home and say he popped into a movie after school. He's gonna be so sad! It was a pretty good theater, too. I used to go a lot when I lived in the neighborhood.

I couldn't make it out to Denver for the arguments, so again, my plea: If you're an attorney arguing, and you know you're oral arguments are only going to have the audio livestreamed, please identify the judges you're talking to. It makes my life so much easier, and that's the most important thing.
