I finished reading 君には届かない。ぼくらの文化祭, which brings me up to 5 completed novels/LNs in Japanese! I’m not sure it should be a milestone given how much I engage with Japanese media otherwise (I surely have hundreds of manga/drama etc under my belt for example) but I suppose it is 🤔

I’m kind of extremely skeptical of the people using Vertex Force as a gotcha for CR’s subs ‘cause that looks outsourced to me. Speaking as the person who has watched 8~ CR debuts in the last three days and it looks nothing like the other shows they’re experimenting with.

I was surprised the English lyrics always went for ‘complicit’ for 共犯 after listening to it so much. It’s a song and PV so steeped in double meanings and things that go hand in hand, that for a few lines I thought they might go with ‘accomplices’ instead to contrast it.

Went to collect a new Apple Watch (my current one was having battery issues and is out of OS support now anyway T_T). This adventure was made more stressful by the zipper on the main compartment of my bag deciding to break, so had to wander around trying to find a replacement.

Watching prime dead girl movie The Last 10 Years. Featuring music by Radwimps frontman Yojiro Noda, which hits all of the right emotions. And now these two MCs fated to fall in love (briefly) are walking under the cherry blossoms together and it is fabulous and heart wrenching at the same time.

The name usage discourage for translated media is always annoying because people like me look like we’re being ignorant or stubborn, when really I’ve just been reading something for so long and with limited exposure to the English name that I’m not gonna remember what that even is unless it’s huge.

Pops is an album that has a lot to say about humanity, the music industry and the 3 members of Mrs Green Apple themselves. I will take a long time to pour over the lyrics and listen repeatedly, but for now I love it wholeheartedly. Music they can be proud of, that captures such a variety of things.

I stayed up late last night watching the final Oblivion Battery special talk. I really enjoyed the whole thing, but I especially liked the scenes Miyano and Masuda picked as standouts. Masuda’s was when Haruka and Kei are playing catch in the park, and honestly that’s one of my absolute favourites.

Sparks of Tomorrow was a wonderful show, the likes of which could only ever come from KyoAni. Sure it was imperfect, but it had a very interesting concept and a pair of chaotic characters that did their very best all the way to the end. Even Yosuke who is supposed to be the antagonist is lovable.

While on the subject of purchasing crimes past me committed, these are the two light novels I picked up for September. 神アイドル声優のマネージャーにガチ恋してしまった is a seiyu manager and novel editor romance, while 四季折々の君と、1年分の恋をするis about a girl with multiple personalities, one for each season.

I finished She Was Pretty. Man that was such a bungable series. I didn’t agree with all of the narrative messaging or choices, but watching Kento Nakajima, Fuka Koshiba and Eiji Akaso act together was just so immensely fun every episode. I had a blast. I’m sad it’s over. I might sleep properly now.

I turned the difficulty down in Digimon Time Stranger and it has made a massive difference to these stupid bloated boss fights. Genuinely the worst thing about this game is how padded those are.

Legal Beat ended, very sad. Easily in my top 3 dramas this season. It had a tad silly premise but largely took it seriously and had some interesting cases to investigate. Always thrilled to see Ouji Suzuka in a lead role, particularly now he’s broken out of the romance shows.

I finished the My Summer of You drama, which I think was the best of the BLs this season for its storytelling. A huge shame about the AI usage given the story’s love of film, nothing as tone-deaf as using AI for stories with a love for a creative medium when it’s the very thing destroying them.

The How Do We Relationship drama started so now I’m constantly checking if the manga has been reprinted. This is partly my fault for swapping from the English releases to JP partway, but I only need 11-14 to finish it. (11 being the one that’s most difficult to find right now, of course…)

Seiyu to Yoasobi is live from Tokyo Culture Culture this week. I love this show anyway, but I really enjoy getting to see them on stage with an audience since they get to host a different kind of show, but one that still has all of the Yoasobi charm (and chaos lol)

Just saw a review where someone was saying Sparks of Tomorrow is likely going to end as one of KyoAni’s worst works. I wouldn’t say it’s their best ever, but I’ve been really enjoying it so far and I think it will be memorable due to the premise and animation.

Finished chapter / story 1. This is definitely a book that’s more interested in figuring out how the crime happened rather than the why, which I am largely okay with ‘cause i am not uninterested in that. Had to read double the amount of pages since I missed my quota yesterday (don’t know how).

Had to go out to offload my old phone to CEX, so bought a Gundam kit on the way home. Another pretty fun design, even if I didn’t like the anime much I do like the lean appearance of the mecha. Stickers are a complete pain for this line though.
