For too long, the cost of higher education has been out of reach for many. My colleagues and I have introduced a bill package to provide students with some much-needed relief. When we invest in education, we strengthen our workforce, our economy & the future of our state.

Grocery prices, energy, healthcare, and the cost of essential goods have risen, and Michiganders are working tirelessly just to afford the basics. House Democrats are making investments to lower costs, strengthen the economy, boost small businesses, and put more money in the pockets of hardworking..
A split view graphic. Over a solid blue background, white and green text reads, "The affordability crisis is real. We know it & we're doing something about it." Light blue text over a green gradient background with illustrations of stacks of paper reads, "This session, House Democrats introduced nearly 50 bills to lower your costs."

In an age where technology quickly outpaces our laws, legislators must stand up for people. I am proud to be the sponsor of the Identity, Consent, Ownership, and Name Rights Act. This legislation ensures individuals have ownership rights to the use of their name, likeness, voice, and image.
A quote graphic for Michigan State Representative Jason Hoskins. Next to a picture of the rep. speaking on the House floor, his quote reads, "We are in a race to protect people from the harmful consequences of rapidly advancing technologies. Human beings own the rights to who they are, not A.I. companies, tech platforms, or bad actors."

Emergencies can bring out the best in our communities, with folks coming together to support one another. But families can also be exposed to unfair price increases on the necessities they depend on. I introduced legislation to protect Michiganders when they are at their most vulnerable.
A quote graphic from Michigan State Representative Jason Hoskins. Next to a picture of the Rep. speaking on the House floor, his quote reads, “No one should be forced to pay inflated prices for essentials in the middle of a crisis. Price gouging during emergencies undermines fairness, public trust, and basic humanity."

Nobody wants their neighborhood rattled by unnecessarily loud vehicles. I've introduced legislation to resolve inconsistencies in existing vehicle noise law, to make it easier to enforce, and ensure fairness to drivers by accounting for legitimate mechanical issues.

State Rep. Jason Hoskins @rephoskins.bsky.social · 15/05/2026
At a time when voting rights are under attack nationwide, I’m leading efforts in the Michigan House to pass the Michigan Voting Rights Act and ensure every eligible voter has equal access to the ballot box. For far too long, Black voters and communities of color have faced barriers,..

State Rep. Jason Hoskins @rephoskins.bsky.social · 06/05/2026
The Supreme Court has turned back the clock on voting rights by 61 years, making it harder for you to have your voice heard. By raising the bar to prove discrimination, the Court has diluted the voices of communities of color. This is not what democracy looks like.
A quote graphic for Michigan State Representative Jason Hoskins. Next to a picture of the rep. speaking on the House Floor, his quote reads, “We cannot meet this moment with silence and complacency. We must use every lawful tool available to defend the right to vote and ensure our democracy lives up to its promise of fair and equal representation.”

Today’s SCOTUS decision did not make conversion “therapy” safe. It just made it harder to protect our youth from exploitation and harm. The science is clear: these practices are linked to higher rates of depression, trauma, anxiety, and suicide.

A statement that reads "Hoskins Condems ICE Agents for Violence in Minneapolis

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., January 26, 2026 — Just weeks after federal immigration agents in Minneapolis killed an unarmed American citizen in Renee Good, this weekend, we watched as ICE killed Alex Pretti in the same area.

No matter where you stand on immigration policy, no one should accept a country where government agents operate with this kind of cruelty and impunity, illegally detaining people, terrorizing communities, and using deadly force against citizens.

America was founded on the idea that government answers to the people, not the other way around. When government becomes an oppressor, we have both a right and a responsibility to respond. And when speaking out is met with violence, something fundamental in our democracy has been broken.

This cannot become normal.

These shameful actions demand transparency, accountability, and an immediate end to unchecked federal aggression. Our freedoms and our democracy depend on it."
